ECU Part numbers, are they all interchangeable?

Hi everyone,

I'm still chasing random stalling issues. I'm at the stage where I'm looking at getting a stock ECU to swap in as a test. I run tuneboy, it's been dyno tuned, I've tinkered to within an inch of it's life, more fuel, less fuel, more timing, less timing, throttle tables, MAP/MAF ratios. Put the standard tuneboy EOM file in it (with errors). Bought an original UPMAP key to try and wipe tuneboy off altogether without success.

I can see 3 ECU part numbers listed (in the AU part catalogue, 1199S ABS).

28642211A
28642211E
28642211F

Question is, are they interchangeable?

Cheers,
Mike

i'm not sure buddy, i think*** the ECU and immobilizer/key are all linked. so there is some process for changing. I have a spare 99 ecu/bbs/ignition if needed in my forsale thread...

That makes an interesting point.

Has anyone ever done a simple ECU swap? That would confirm or deny the ECU and immobilizer/key are all linked question.

edit: further research says ECU can be swapped independently without issue.

I'd like to add 28642071B to the part number list. Can anyone confirm they are all the same thing?

The software version on the ECU is the likely difference. You'd have to hook it up and read the software version between your ECU and the replacement. The bad part is, one version may be expecting certain versions from the other controllers on the bike, be it BBS, ABS, Dash etc.

Can you get it to a dealer or someone with the ability to flash software? I think that's a better option than shotgunning an ECU into in.

I was having stall at idle, and some other weird issues. I replaced both air pressure sensors all the issues went away. I only had the Tuneboy cruise on it at the time. Last week I tried to load Tune/Cruise option maps, and after loading each one, it stalled immediately after starting. I loaded the Tuneboy provided factory (stock) tune, and it runs fine again. Not sue why I cannot load any one of the moded ones.

I tried all that you have tried. New map sensors seemed to help but the same stalling issue remained. Putting the stock tune did nothing for me.

I've fiddled for months, and seem to have now a .bin file that is working for me. I uploaded it in the tuneboy thread one the weekend if you want to try it.

I'll try it, but I wonder if I am doing something wrong when loading the TB suplied non-oem maps - as it starts/stalls, like immediately. Not sure I am seeing the ECU serial each time, and am I supposed to load a trim with the map?

Yes. When loading the MAP that is your base but you also need to load the correct trim file that matches your application.
