Does anyone know if you’d be able to put 1199/1299 cams in a 899/959/v2? Also if adding trumpets or velocity stacks would actually add anything.
 
Dont know but the general consensus is get a bigger bike unless you have a lot of time to play with it and get things sorted out.
 
I’d go with lightened stator before any engine work on a V2. Next would be porting heads. Than ti conrods or higher compression pistons. At that point you’ll need to tune the bike to get any real benefit. Are you racing it?
 
I have the lightened flywheel/stator. There isn’t any pistons for the smaller V2. Yeah I bring it to the track but no actually racing
 
If you have an 899 swap the 1199 engine is as same casings and mounting locations. That would be the best ROI....
 
Also on the cams the bigger problems are the valve sizes to match the different piston size. The exterior dimensions and bolts all match up from the 899 & 1199 but you have a more aggressive cam profile and larger valves in the 1199. The 1299 head actually uses the same valve sizes but if you go with the 1299r it's slightly bigger. If you coming from an 899 best ROI is to swap an 1199 engine as you can find them reasonable today.
 
So I was just looking into this, I bought some 1199 cams to compare to the V2 cams. Since the cams have to come out for a valve adjustment I thought it might be worth the upgrade. If anyone has V2/1199 cam profile spec I'd like to see them. Just eyeballing them there is more duration and about 1.5mm more lift than the V2 cams.

I've not seen published but it would be good to share if someone has them? Good to compare 899, 1199, V2, 1299
..
 
I looked up the part numbers and the 959 & V2 cams are the same Part numbers. Also the 1199 & 1299 exhaust cams are the same, other than that I have not looked into any other compares.

Helpful, we will need to build a cross reference. Really need to know the cam specs (lift, duration for exh and intake, etc.). @baggerman did you do this for the engine you where building?
 
Cam sprocket teeth are different, so those would have to be swapped over. 959/V2 on the right, 1199 on the left. Comparing part #'s, 899,1199, & 1299 are the same gears, V2 & 959 are different.

I swapped the 30 tooth V2/959 cam gears over and installed the cams, started the bike and it all sounded normal. I'll update after I get the bike tuned to see if it's a worthwhile upgrade or not.
 
It's my race bike, not a bike to go get coffee on. It fits in a class, and riding a slow bike fast is a hell of a lot more fun than riding a fast bike slow.

So your needs are different to his.

No but I will when I reassemble. I'm thinking ultimately the 2025 cams will be of advantage, too bad I'll have to wait for a used set.
