Anyone know what the exhaust DB level ratings are for the Japan spec 1199 or 1299?

I brought my 1199 over here to Germany with me and I need to be able to pass a sound test of 95-97 DB to even register the bike.

The stock exhaust blows 104 DB, my termi slips with DB killers are still over 100 DB. I've tried stuffing them with steel wool and that barely makes a difference.

My next thoughts are to buy the japan spec muffler. I'm trying to figure out if the 1199 or 1299 mufflers have any sound difference.

How do the dealers register the standard bikes there? I'd ask them how they do it and take it from there? Everyone knows the 1199/1299 with standard exhausts are too loud to pass a static noise test at a track day (well, UK in any case), presumably the dealers must have a way of getting them registered?

Do this:

Unhook the cable for the flapper valve.

Safety wire it in position (almost closed - as in: cable almost fully pulled). That should do the trick.

In a recent discussion around exhaust systems, my tech told me that Japanese Ducatis are spec’d with additional noise cancelling (different internals in the muffler/silencer). His point... there’s an after-market for NA spec’d silencers. A bit of a cost recovery opportunity for those upgrading to a slip-on or full system. A rare instance where stock is an ‘upgrade’.

Indirectly, this may answer how Japanese Ducatis manage to get registered. They’re quieter.

The Japanese 1199 has an extra muffler on the side of the bike, after the underbelly muffler. Google images and have a vomit bag ready
