It has been awhile since posting on here. I took my 2013 R into the dealership last week to take off my Full Akra system and replace with factory Termi system. I believe the cost for installing the system was a 4 hr job. I received a call a few minutes ago that the dealership has completed the work. I was just informed that I am being charged 7 hrs labor for the replacement labor. The dealership also changed my oil and cleaned my filter.. Total cost of $760.

Does Ducati have a standard time or charge for breakdown and set up for a exhaust on the Pani? I wanted to see if there is a standard breakdown time that Ducati may use as reference when considering labor time for the exhaust system. I will be speaking with the Manager on Friday to review the labor costs but wanted to get our group's feedback to better understand what a ave time Ducati considers for replacing exhaust systems.

Thanks for any feedback your able to provide.

I am either upgrading to the 15 R this year or selling the bike and purchasing a 2016 model next year.. The local dealership closed down last year and the nearest one to me is approx 35+ miles away.. I am just putting the bike back to stock as I consider my next steps.. That Akra exhaust is a great system which I may consider selling at some point.. I was just taken back by the time it took for the newer dealership to work on the bike. Was hoping to see if there was a guideline used by Ducati service dept that considers time needed to remove and replace exhaust..

You should have gotten a quote before hand, then made them stick to it.

I agree.. Unfortunately, I did not discuss cost in the front end... My bad...

My friend that lives nearby the dealership picked up the bike from my place and dropped it off for me. He has purchased his HP4, GTL, and many other toys from this dealer.. The process was out of the ordinary since weather and schedules would not allow me to meet face to face... I am not concern with the dealership reviewing the bills and my payment. I wanted to hear from other forum members experiences and/or Ducati suggested time they consider when changing out systems.

I am doing the same . I am putting the termi back on the R and putting the Akra on my 1299 .
I am not a Ducati Tech just a squid with a toolbox and I can easily do the job in under 4 hours .

I am no mechanic, I do not have anywhere near the quantity or quality of tools as a Ducati dealership and I personally removed my termi system and installed a full akra in about 2 hours so wtf is your stealership talking about? Id laugh in their face and tell then get real. Just like the lowlives at my dealership charging me three hours later to install rearsets that took me 35 minutes to install on my second 1199.

This type of .... is on this forum every single day and people still support these greedy dealerships service departments.

I agree.. Unfortunately, I don't have the means to do the work myself (tools, space, time, et...).. I just assumed 4 hrs was the proper charge since I was also having the oil changed.. Hopefully I learn from my mistake! Thanks for everyone's feedback!

Stealerships strike again and I thought Frasers had the monopoly on taking the p1ss !
Sorry you got taken for a ride.

I had a similar experience last year when returning the 1199 to stock. Didn't have the time to do it myself and wanted to get the bike advertised ASAP. The shop charged double the quote and were way over on a few other things (1 hour to remove both DP engine casing guards - 7 bolts). I complained and they revised it downwards to somewhere in the middle. I would call, ask if there has been a mistake with your bill & to explain the 7 hours of labour - it really shouldn't take that long.

I would have done it for $500 and a couple of beers

Did they have to put the exhaust valve and associated cable back on, I bet that one takes a bit to get through, easy off probably not easy back on.. which may lead to extra time?

I just traded in my 2014 R with the Akra evo system for the 2015 R. Sold the termi system months ago. The dealer took it into account and gave me a boost on the trade in price. Why didn't you just do that?

He saw you coming, especially if you take it back there to trade in for the new R.........

I cannot believe some of the stories I hear about the misfortune people have with dealerships elsewhere in the world. In the UK we seem to be lucky. My dealer is fantastic and will bend over backwards to help me. It lets the brand down big time, robbing b*stards

Termi system will not have the flapper valve

2 hours huh?

-Did you start your clock when your hands first set on the bike, or when you had the body off and up on a lift?
-Did you cut corners?
-Did you remove the servo assembly completely or just remove the cables and left it there?
-Did you dyno test and reflash?

I'm lucky enough to have a honest enough dealer in my area. To do it RIGHT, up to my level of expectations, is a 7 hour gig. About $856.

I'd likely charge $500 myself. And then refund the customer if it truly only takes me 2 hours.

Ok 3 hours. As it goes I will be taking the cans off this weekend so will time myself and report back.

.

Not sticking up for the dealer. But your taking it to them.

Its not all that bad, considering you wont do the work yourself.

Would you trust a cheaper source on a 30k bike?

My Termi fitment was a pain in the butt, and it was not straight forward. Its something you want done right and not rushed.

Were talking about cleaning and greasing bolts with proper lube and loctite as described in the book. Me, I threw it all back with what was on it, less the blue loctite.

If 760 includes that oil filter and oil change, you really have nothing to complain about.
