I have the base model. Wondering if Termi slip ons are worth the money. I have heard they dont add much in HP or sound. What is the advantage to having them?

So we can argue about things... That's one advantage...:D
Did you search??? This has been discussed ad infinitum...

Come on Stw, this is your chance to voice your opinion as fact! My opinion (which is fact), they are only worth the money if you like the suttle sound difference and like the look. You could obtain the same weight savings with a $100 Shorai battery, and it adds such a small HP differenece, you will never really feel it (some claim they have). Sooo:

1. If the look is worth it, buy it
2. If sound is imporatant, go listen to the difference in person. Rider's opinions vary here, and youtube does not do it justice - you need to hear it youself.

They do add decent midrange numbers compared to what else is out there. Look up the charts on the various threads posted in the forum.

Personal reasons I bought them, may not apply to you:
1) Cheapest, by far - the price is negotiable with your dealer. Got mine for a few hundred less than the Comp Werkes, which is the next cheapest option out now
2) Free installation on a new bike from dealer
3) Free upmap from Ducati, and free access to upgraded maps as Ducati releases them
4) Mid-range power/torque increase. Depending on the dyno chart you look at, it produces more midrange "usable-to-me" power than a certain other system costing around $4k. I don't care as much about the extra few ponies at 11,500 rpm, as i don't stay at that rev level too much street riding, I'd rather have the mid-range
5) If you buy it with the bike, you can roll the already cheapest slip-on price into your financing (which mine is at 1.75% interest, so that's a big plus over dishing out $4k cash IMO)
6) Sound is deeper and a slightly better quality sound than stock, albeit not that much louder
7) Weight savings over stock

So yeah... to me, it was absolutely worth it.

You got me wanting them now!

Lol... I think Trans... has it covered waaay better than I could've..But would add that you disconnect the silly flapper thing too.:) No regrets here.... They clean up really nicely too... I found the stock system to suffer cosmetically very quickly....

+1

i am working on a de-cated stock exhaust at the moment (just went to the welder) will post before and after vidz and eventually dyno charts.

Interested in what, you doing it for us? I would be, it would be louder and lighter, just hope the map can handle ;)

You would certainly remove back-pressure... so you might want to run the slip-on map, even though the silencer geomety is probably somewhat different. I think it would basically make either map non-optimized, but should run ok without damaging the engine

Ttkarp maybe be able to add some info here... He had the termis installed and the dealer somehow messed up the map upload and it didnt take.. so he rode it for some miles without the map.. Not sure the effects but I dont think it ran terribly... Troy?? Any input???:)

What Trans said lol. But if you make it out to the pavilions tomorrow, you can give a listen to my base pani. I don't run the db killers and personally think it sounds better then stock.

It ran fine actually. It had the same power dip at 6-7 k as stock. I only later noticed the missing "racing" notice on the dash. Once I loaded the up map, the dip feels gone and it runs great. The time spent without the map loaded was on busy roads, so I didn't have an opportunity to really sample the performance in the upper range. I'll add my opinion on the sound. It's a deeper, fuller sound. But not notably louder. I love it, but if you want more noise the slips aren't a great choice. Other than that, I agree with the previous comments.

there have been charts out with the termis running better without up map.

the welder currently asks 100 bucks, but that's for the slaughtered exhaust. i guess the later ones will be cheaper. he is an excellent welder, "gas tight". and i want to get paid for cutting up my hands and driving this thing around. so i thought 150 bucks plus shipping would be fair. ??? ROI has to be considered too, for dyno and so on...
no one is gonna get filthy rich here and it's dirty work...

i don't know what you guys are willing to pay... shipping will come not too cheap with that heavy thing...

as for the termi-stickers, ummm, no. tought of these here:

regarding the maps, that's why i got the tuneboy...

but i will see that i get the oxygen readings from the dyno.

some pics :

cat out ( will become nicer with the further ones, i cut the excess metal off afterwards)

and a cut in the baffle from the inside to get the air out on a quicker path:

yours will only have the central window cut out to get to the cat:

if wanted, i will make the extra cut here, to release the gas more directly:
