hi guys
i need some advice or thoughts on this

i have Extended warranty on my bike, which i payed for extra $700 3years
so total 5 years warranty

i sort of want full termi but dont really "need" it.
if i get termi's it voids my extended warranty and i get my $700 back

wish to ask what would you guys do.
keep warranty and save 4k OR lose warranty and get full termi pay extra 4k

Given that you can afford the 4k: get termi and enjoy. 5 years = probably new toy. ;)

Justification of expense was void the moment you pulled the trigger on the bike in the first place. It is not a question about rational decisions, but how you can make yourself believe that it is a rational decision. Just let go and let passion take over! You only live once and it is therefore important to make sure that everyday counts.

When you look at it, life is really a sexually transmitted disease with 100% mortality. It is what happens between the moment of conception and death that counts! Make the most of it and enjoy. :D

My 2 cents..... ;)

Mate I've sold cars and bikes for the majority of my working career and I can say with confidence that extended warranties are not worth ....!

It's a dealer warranty not manufacturer which means you will have to stick to servicing at the one location or you will void the extension and I guarantee they will get the money out of you well over and above the magic $700 start price!

Get the full termi brother, you wont regret it. :p

Anything that will go wrong will happen in the first two years. Factory warranties are the only warranties to have. IMHO :D

You can do both. It's a trick they pull on you...you can purchase extended warranty anytime before the factory warranty runs out. In other words if you buy a 5 year warranty your paying for the first 2 that are already covered and adding 3 more onto it. You can go and buy the extended even if you have only 1 day left on the factory warranty.

cheers for your reply

ill check back on this and see what overall thoughts is

That is strange, Ducati warrenties the bike with full Termi so why would extended warrenty do other wise?

Which dealer group did you get the extended warranty from?

ducati city Melbourne is where i bought the warranty but Swann insurance is the company of extended warranty.
as gavin said i have to take it back to them for service which kind of sux, feel abit confined

i asked that question
maybe sumthing that ducati & warranty companie knows that we dont.

im thinking it may affect the longevity of the bike.

+1 I for one can't wait for my warranty to run out ,so I can go do things to the bike that would otherwise void the warranty.

Is the warranty void if you just get slip ons?

I would keep the extended warranty and skip the full termis and just get slip ons. If its still void with slip ons just keep the stock cans and swap them back over.

Since getting my bike from day one its back in the shop getting something changed over under warranty, indicator stops working, water pump leaks, fender melting etc you name it.

These things need the warranty. If you plan on selling it after 2 years then who cares, otherwise if you want to keep it I would say hang onto the warranty.

Don't want to thread jack, but can anyone tell me if the stock cans are that much heavier than the termi slip ons?

And I agree with everyone else, forget the warranty go full sys!

Stocks 10kg.
Termi slips 7.5kg
Termi full 7kg
Austin inconel 2.6kg
Austin steel 3.8kg

This is talking full weight

I havnt had much problem with mine. 2000km - 2 months
Just a broken panel on pick up which they fixed it.
Termi slips affect warranty.

That sounds like a questionable extended warranty. You may want to ditch that warranty anyway. I do not have full, but I can almost guarantee that would not affect the extended warranties offered by my dealer, which are through Chubb, and large company. All extended warranties are not created equal and find one that is from a very large reputable company. Always best to wait until factory warranty is nearly complete (one, to make sure you still have the bike, and two as the warranty refund, if any, is often prorated from the date of purchase). But you may have aftermarket extended warranties out there available, and they would not limit your repair location. I'm still a fan of them due to the possibility of some very large and expensive failure. Doesn't take much to make your $700 back on such a bike. I'd do some research on such possibilities, and I'd certainly wait until your factory warranty is nearly complete to get anything.

So your full termi's will cost you now 33...given you get the 700 already paid for the warranty. It's an exhaust on your bike! You have to have one regardless.

That said, the extended warranty could be pretty handy. Having not owned a Ducati for more than a year, I've no idea how they expect to hold up. I do expect to own this one for more than a year!
