Twice I've purchased extended warranties for bikes (Honda and a Suzuki). It was a waste of money. I'll try not to repeat those mistakes.

:rolleyes:The poll options are too narrow and biased...

come on stw how is that. you either get one cause you are afraid of costs of problems or you dont cause you believe you will never have problems.

How about...I know one day I will have issues but I neither believe that the extended warranty is worth it or will cover it???

It is no...but not using the qualification you added...You know I am concerned...

I got it for my last bike as well (R1) and I'm glad I did. Even if I don't need it or make use of it, the peace of mind is often worth the price of admission. My thoughts anyway...

Stw is correct. The idea of this thread and poll seems sounds but the wording is leading and the options are too narrowly applied. At a minimum there should be several different justifications attributed to the Yes and No options.

Although mine is a 2013 which I purchased in April, I made sure I added the 5yr extra coverage for a total of 7yrs. Will I need it? I sure hope not. Warranty should be purchased for peace of mind, not with hopes of having to one day use it so you don't feel like your $$ was wasted. I only paid half of the dealer price during my bike purchase negotiations where I also ended up purchasing the wheel and tire protection as well. Dealer price I believe was about $1200 for the extended warranty and I think ~ $600-700 (?) For the rim n tire coverage. I paid $1000 for both coverage. When spending $20k on a bike, another $1000 for peace of mind is nothing. Think of the most simple warranty claim on a Ducati. How much do you think that would cost to fix on your own with labor included? Enough to make you consider purchasing the added protection. This is coming from a guy who has never purchased one on something and didn't even believe in selling to customers when I worked retail for almost 12 years. Then again I'm not dealing with some cheap piece of equipment that I can't just go out n buy as a replacement like a phone or some other crap. Now there was no point in purchasing such coverage on my evo since the day after I purchased the car, I voided the warranty the next day with all the bolt on upgrades n pro tune so I wasn't worried about it n took into consideration the risk involved in heavily modifying a motor. My bike will remain stock in terms of engine mods so I'll gladly pay the extra $1000 and hope I never have to use it over the next 7 years.

i posted the reasons because deep down you are either
1 getting it cause you are afraid of costs aka peace of mind
2 you are not getting it cause you think you wont need it. if you think you will need it for costs your not going to say no cause its a reliable bike.

if you dont want to vote dont vote. what do you want me to tell you.

I abstain..

I don't think I will need the extended warranty for the 1199, my bike is pretty reliable.

On all my bikes I couldnt wait for the warranty to expire so I can do some engine mods that would void the warranty anyways. Plus I go through bikes every three years except for my dedicated track bikes which the warranties was voided from day one.

Lets sue him!!
