Anyone have a failed fan on their Panigale? This happened today. When I start the bike. Fan starts, then there is a click, and it stops, and this light shows up. I had fun getting it home managing the temp.
I’ll call the dealer Tuesday. But anyone experience and know the fix?

Got your pm as well man so just try plugging in 12v source directly to the fan see if it powers up so you don't need to get tje bike up 215 degrees to see if fan comes on. Also might just be a bad connection.

The fan comes on. For a second or 2. Then it stops and error light comes on. Turn bike off and on and it repeats the same

I would try unplugging the connector spray some contact cleaner on it plug back in see if it fixes it. Also whats voltage reading on the battery on the bike?

If it runs on a aux 12 volt supply then the fan unit is fine ..put a amp meter in line and check how much it draws , it could be a faulty relay the fact that it powers up for 2 seconds and trips out
if so a relay is cheap I’m just unsure where it sits in this bike
I have had interesting stuff with my bike over the years and have learnt to do much myself

The fan has no external relay. It plugs directly into pin 1 on the BBS. If there is an anomaly (+ or -) in voltage, you will get the condition Captain Greg described.

Left at dealer service today. I’ll report their findings

Update: at first they said it was connector issues. Now they call today and state it’s the fan and ordered one.
I’m almost expecting the new fan also not to work, and it is the BBS unit. Hope not.

And here we go again with more dealer Mumbo-jumbo. I like others who maintain their own stuff have at least one spare for everything. That the dealership doesn’t maintain this philosophy is puzzling. I get you can’t inventory a spare (service test) part for every thing made but you certainly can if your brand is notoriously nasty in the electrical department.

This diagnosis should have taken 15 min max. First the DDS should have detected a fault in the BBS if there was one. Having a spare “service” BBS would also eliminate that as would a spare service fan. Nope. Drop the bike off with the other giant pile of bikes, continue making your payment and we’ll call you when we have tallied all the other stuff we’re going to charge you for.

They sat on it for 3 weeks backlogged with other bikes. Luckily I've been slammed busy or there's been no gas lol

Only 3 weeks? WOW those guys are fairly quick compared to some of the shops. Fricking embarrassing for a "premium" brand.

Yeah 3 weeks is quick the average is like 3 months. 1299SL's in the shop for warranties are like 6-8 months can't imagine the back log for a V4SL will be a year? Its been a mess for years and won't get any better.

I thought someone said you could unplug the fan and not get a code or light until until the bbs tried to activate it?

@endodoc

You did brother : )

Said you just raised the temp that it kicks on at in the Woolich software. My Woolich won’t let me raise the ‘on’ temp above 217° (oem)

Mick said he installed a resistor

When the key is first turned on do they all run the fan for a second as a check?

I forget

Yes Don you would'nt want to set the fan to anything above the normal set point which is 216 be one hot cooked motor by then.

Yes I make the fan bypass plugs its a oem male connector with a resistor in place works great been running that setup for years. Fan light never comes on no matter the temperature is. The fans never come on when turning the ignition on.

My bad then I actually lowered the fan temp 180 using the software. If the resistance at the fan terminal is not where it needs to be when the BBS kicks the circuit, you get a fan code. If your not running a fan, you need a resistor if the bike is going to exceed the factory temp trigger. My particular application does not cycle the fan at ignition.

Bo13R speaks words of wisdom. If you can avoiding anything Ducati service related will pay huge dividends. See Mick for the resistor. I’ve never used on so I can’t speak on the value. Mick what’s the value? Yea that trail tech stuff is cool. That little fin sensor is nice.

The racing kit does not come with a fan plug

I just returned one as all that is in it is a kickstand bypass

*and a bunch of blank plugs

**my fan creates 23 ohm of resistance
