I think it would be more helpful if they were telescopic (adjust length of mirror as well).

I don't know what the other posters problem was but for me when I'm sitting up all I can see are my arms. It's OK full tuck but around town where I need them most they are not the best. I just lift my arms a little and look through the gap so it's not a huge deal.
