Well, after being a lurker on this forum for roughly 2 years, I finally saved up enough to get my own 1199.

Glad to finally be joining your ranks. I opted for the Base 2014 1199 model as the only reason I wanted the S was the LED headlight assembly. I found some good instructions for installing the S headlight assembly on my Base, so I pulled the trigger TODAY.

Put 78 miles on her today. Hope it doesn't rain as much this weekend as the WRAL guys are predicting...

Not quite ready to track her, but would love to come and watch at the next NCBike event.

Congrats.

Buy yourself an LED headlight and follow my how to writeup on doing the conversion and get'er done!

Ride safe.

Oh believe me, I plan to. Might be a couple of weeks though. Need to recoup financially after being raped by the insurance company.

My progressive policy for the Panigale is costing me about the same as my USAA policy for all 3 of my cars combined. Ridiculous!

you gotta find a way to loose those fork reflectors - you poor yanks really suffer with that crap.

Welcome to the club - keep it rubber side down.

Congrats on the bike!

Despite all the commercials that would lead you to believe otherwise, Progressive does not seem to like sport bikes. The best rates without having your home and cars in the same policy appears to be State Farm. Riders is even raising their rates. I had Allstate and they are nearly as bad...

At least check it out and you might be able to get that LED installed sooner!

Good luck.

Congrats on the new bike! I can't wait to pick mine up tomorrow. Insurance was extremely high for this bike, try Geico. For two bike, Panigale S and Victory cruiser, I was quoted about $1550 for 12 months with 100k/300k coverage in bodily, guest & uninsured/underinsured. I know if varies from state to state but I opted to carry more than my state minimum just to be safe. Up here in the north east I only ride April thru November so the premium will drop because I can take it off the road in the winter months.
I was quoted from NYBike Insurance at about $800 for 12 months but felt more comfortable with going with a major insurance co. Mainly due to the fact if it ever came time to pay out, I don't want to deal with a hassle. Plus they didn't offer a winter storage program, I would be paying about 100 more with Geico with the winter storage plan because it dropped a little less than half off the top of the premium.

Well done Steve on accomplishing your goal. You have chosen a good model. I had the base abs 2013. If you get the suspension set up for you you will find it an extremely comfortable bike for a sports bike with superb handling.
I am now searching for a new base 1199 with abs !!!
Why did I sell mine arrrrrrrghhhh

I just got my quote from my State Farm agent and it's pretty damn reasonable..!! $760 for the year and that's with one speeding ticket still on my record... That's almost identical to what I was paying for my BMW S1000RR.

Admittedly, they insure my home etc, but still, I was expecting to pay a lot more.
