Unsure if you read my post regarding this spam ?

The spammers are using anonymous connections to your site, which causes your CAPTCHA to fail (via anonymous connection your capture displays an error message - which the spammers simply paste in as a password.

As they are using anonymous connections they are actually using 'relay tunnels' which means the IP addresses you are blocking is actually one of many many tunnels.

Just a hunch.......but maybe someone who was mocked, abused or did not like the content of "certain" threads. Don't think it needs to be actually spelled out.

Quick update... I am in the process of posting up a new thread on what happened, nuking any new spambots that are signing up, and looking at changing the new user registration process.
