I have the manifold kit ready for install when I bring the bike in for the first service. Based on heat (I don't want more) and the possibility of melting the fairing (a couple I've heard about), I'm questioning the decision to have them installed. I may spend the money on carbon goodies.

Have those that had the silencers then went to the full system noticed a difference in performance? I can't imagine it would be any louder as it's pretty loud with just the Termi silencers.

Your feedback is appreciated.

Hi,

I noticed a much soother ride in the lower rev range.

My dealer also said that he felt it pulled much better lower down that with just the silencers.

I have not noticed the difference in heat between the demo i rode that just had silencers and my tri with the full system.

Noise is louder, a much deeper growl which in turn produces a much bigger :D!!!

I would say full system every time!!!

But this is only my opinion.

ENJOY !!!!

Are the silencers on the Tri exactly the same as the mufflers wich come with the full system ?
Tought the silencers on the full system have a much rounder outlet ?
And does the Tri come with the Termignoni stickers ?

Identical, that's why its sold in two parts.

Is melting of the fairing covered by Ducati warranty ?

btw, when will Termignoni ever learn ?!
The 1098 had the same issue with full Termi system, while Akrapovic's EVO system didn't have this problem.

I think the melting is down to incorrect installation, since its an absolute pig of a job, that needs to be done 100% perfect.

My standard exhaust was touching the fairing, due to carless fitting of the side-panel and a spring clip bracket that needed a little filing, so I think that shows just how small the tolerances are.

I remember on my 999s we installed a piece of carbon between the bellypan and the 57mm system to prevent melting.
What is the weakspot on the 1199 ? As i can't find pictures of melting parts.

HOw on earth do you guys live with the sound of the termis?? My bike has stock exhaust and is nearly as loud as my friends 07 multi with full termi.

I'm amazed they got this past noise emissions. Heading to work at 0330 this morning actually coasted down the driveway to minimize the sound my neigbhors would here.

Sounds good tho.

Yah, its noisy, but my stock cans quietened down a bit after 100km. Termi's boosted it right back up though.

In hindsight, I may just be going deaf from all the racket

I'm with you on it getting quieter as its run in. My theory is that the joins in the pipes, particularly the one from the front cylinder at the front of the link pipe on the right side of the bike, are not sealed well at manufacture. This seems to be borne out by many of the smoke videos the show jets of smoke coming from this area rather than the silencers. I guess as they run-in the gaps seal up as carbon deposits on the inside of the pipes.

Maybe the smoke is part of Ducati's cunning plan to seal the exhaust while the bikes are being run-in.

Don't worry about a thing, they are awesome in everyway, had my full system since the bike was delivered, in my opinion, you shouldn't settle for anything less, my baffles are also out(I didn't even realise!) and it's not that loud! Don't know what people are so worried about, at end of the day if you don't know that a Ducati Twin is loud, then maybe you should be getting the S1000RR, I had one of those, and trust me my 1199S makes me smiles a lot lot harder... Enough said!

Yes Sir - covered under warranty, if dealer installed. I suspect you would have a harder time of it if you install the headers, though with all the information on this issue any good dealer would replace your fairing. Small cost to keep a customer happy.
