Funny little "Classic Fuel Tank Valve"

Ducati Forum

Help Support Ducati Forum:

Unreal. Outstanding job. Love the tank--and the Tricolore graphics look outstanding. If we had a bike of the year nominations, I don't think anyone could come close....except one. Too bad only three people know of its existence. ;)

Thank you very much for this info!!
I acutally bought some in line valves available on the market. But all of them were either way to big or the vacuum required for opening was too high in my impression. Where would I get that valve? Any input highly appreciated!

Check out Wirtz valves Urs :)

Although, any one way check valve with a low pressure crack/open rate will do. It's really just for saving fuel from spilling on the track if she were ever to go over.

Thank you for the tip! I'll try to get the Wirtz thinggy. Made already some street rides with the Newton Engineering valve, so far it worked as expected. No bubbles, no spitting fuel.

Next thing I will build is a nice bracket to fix the vent tube nicely to the bike.

Hey SAB
Today I received the Wirtz valve. So I made a little bracket to mount it in front of the tank. While making my mill dirty, I also made another bracket for the right side holding a high-current MIL-connector. I will use this port for the battery charger.

Urs,

That's smooth! Well done. Have you bored out the newton valve or are you using both the check valve and the newton? In a race tank where this is the only vent, you may create a slight vacuum because each valve has a valve in it. I don't run the ball valve in my newton valve. You have the stock vent lines under the tank sill breathing to atmosphere correct? If yes, then you can run both valves no problem. Looks super trick though! :)

Thanks!
Newton valve is still with the two balls, I guess I will remove them when I'm sure everything works well. Next I will close the tank's internal vapor and overflow line. It makes life much easier when installing the tank :)
I'm now thinking of doing an SL endurance aluminium fuel tank, you hooked me!

I can honestly say Iam a hater at the moment pls forgive me! Yesss hating its not MY BIKE!:D
Do you have any extras of the battery ports?

Naaa, don't you worry. I anodized all custom bits in natural/silver.

Sorry, at this time I did not made any extra pieces (did not have enough raw material).
But it wouldn't be a problem to make you another battery port bracket. But I'm not sure if you'd pay the price for the connectors? I took swiss quality connectors from LEMO http://www.lemo.com/en, contact material CuNi+Au, housing material chromium-plated brass, nominal current 6A. Male, female plus accessory alone costs about USD 60.- :(
