Iceman, I am not going to shoot you my friend and especially for expressing your personal opinion :) I kind of take peoples comments as their personal opinions and not projected facts ;-)

I am sure that 'other' parts manufacturers appreciate that I don't piss and moan all over their spam posts on this forum or do 'competitive shoot-outs' between products between vendors. Especially when said manufactures start stating crap about radiators guards in an attempt to .... on their competition ; PERSONAL OPINION.

I did indeed mention on another thread that both sides of my DP rear sets had bolts that worked themselves loose. In my personal opinion I am finding that several bolts on the 1199 on the bike appear to be vibrating loose. I honestly believe that one would be fine as long as one checks the bolts before and after a ride. I chalk the vibrating bolts to be part of the Ducati 1199 'experience'.

Now would a one-off bolt experience on both sides of the DP rear sets put me off the DP rear sets - no. The DP rear sets are works of art, and they feel amazing, combined with the DP levers they really add to the riding experience. I know the DP levers and rear sets are the most expensive, however IN MY PERSONAL OPINION I believe them to be well worth it and the best in all categories. If price is not an issue then I highly recommend them.

Trust me when I say I judge everything on its value rather than tag price and I consider the DP (except the tank pad) to be the best value.

I keep stating over and over again that for my personal choice I want Ducati and Ducati Performance as I want to experience what the DUCATI designers intent is. Please allow me to add three caveats, Evotech low radiator guard (simple and very effective) and the other projects that I have underway - RIZOMA accessories and JET HOT COATING the entire exhaust.

Trust this helps.

Thanks Cali....Its the value for money I was concerned about, the Gilles pegs I have on my S1000rr are great. No doubt on the quality with them....so if your happy with the DP's I have to somehow get a look at them in person before I make my call. The Gilles, AR and DP are what I've narrowed it down too.

The radiator guard is one that Im throwing around too, narrowed it to evotech and R&G. Seen the R&G not seen the evotech yet....

Cheers for the response mate :D

Hey Ice,
I am going to get the Wasp Guards from WA. Pretty tough 316 stainless still and apparently give plenty of clearance.

I am a happy camper with my choices. Would recommend you view and inspect whatever rear sets and radiator guards in person. I have EvoTech installed on the bottom radiator only (2 min install), thus allowing unrestricted airflow to the top radiator.

My second choice of rear sets after DP would be AR or RIZOMA.

if you were going by the pictures for the Gilles FXR rear sets would you buy the black or the aluminium? I cant decide what one I like best...?

I'm thinking the black ones with some carbon fiber heel guards would look pretty sweet :)

I like the aluminium as it keeps it looking more original.

I am kinda in Cali Ducs camp as I like the DP stuff as it keeps it all Ducati.

I like the DP rear sets but as I do not race I need to look for stuff that positions for increased comfort. I like the Rizoma ones too.

I like the DP stuff as well....just would like to see them in the flesh to see if their worth the premium.

Made contact with Gilles rep in Australia, he's getting back to me with pricing and availability.

I like the Aluminium look too, but the black with the carbon heel pads would also look great...almost DP like.... ;)

I really like the Carbon, Black & Steel materials of the DP rear sets. I would suggest if possible sit on a bike that has the DP rear sets they are way more comfortable and grippy than the standard pegs.

For the Aussies - extract from email I received from australian distributor....

The Factor X rearset is available in anodised black or raw aluminium finish.

Pricing is
