I got a chance to try out Google Glass 2.0 today.
At the outset I was worried that it wouldn't fit inside my helmet very well. Turns out that wasn't an issue at all. I put them on after I put on my helmet just like I would sunglasses. At no time during my 4.5 hour ride did they ever feel uncomfortable. Surprising and awesome!

I didn't like how the natural position of the glasses obstructed my vision while riding. When I ride, I maintain a chin down position. I can see my gauges, my mirrors, and the sky all without moving my head. In this position I end up starring just below the band across the top of the glasses and directly through the little prism. It was very distracting even though nothing was being displayed in the prism. An interrupted field of vision while riding sucks bad. This is no good. I don't recommend it. I speculate that with different frames I wouldn't see as much of the band but the prism will always be there.

Using the glasses while riding was impossible due to the noise. I made one attempt at getting directions while at a stop light and while it did recognize my inputs to initiate the directions command it didn't understand my destination. While riding it didn't recognize any commands at all. All video I took were initiated near or at idle. The video below shows the only rolling video start, I was rolling at less than 10mph while holding in the clutch.

The battery didn't last very long. I took a total of 5 videos ranging from <3 minutes to just over 8 minutes. The last video was cut short when the battery died and the file was unrecognizable/corrupted.

The videos came out ok. With my chin down position it did capture a lot of the road. Later I adjusted the glasses up a little and that helped to see up the road further, like where my eyes were looking. Otherwise, the video looks pretty bouncy and the speeds look a lot more extreme. I wasn't going slow but it didn't feel like warp speed when I was going fast. Thats just how it looks on video.

All in all I'd say that these are a "no go" for sport riders. 1. You can't use it's features while riding, you have to be stopped for it to hear you. 2. The vision obstruction is distracting and just plain unsafe. 3. You can't capture very much video so you have to start it and stop it frequently. 4. The videos are ok, not good or great.

So there you go. Enjoy the video. Change the settings to HD. It's better that way.
*This was my first time riding down this particular road. It's not intended to show off my Marc Marquez level of skills just GG video in helmet. I have other videos where I ride much more assertively.

Thanks for the review. I thought of trying them also when they became available and had the same thoughts on how it would be. Thanks for your review

How irresponsible. You're one of those selfish idiots that's going to kill innocent bikers everywhere.

J/K :D

I like gadgets as much as the next geek. Thanks for your review. Maybe the 3.0 version...
