..Really?? Makes the 1199 like a Diavel...

...yes...really ! :) -- it was quite an adjustment...sure did feel grippy though, with lots and lots of lean angle confidence - amazing actually, but.....the trade off on slow steering wasn't so much fun.....i'm now on a 190 cup(measures 9.5" 241.3mm - same as super corsa), and may go back to the super corsa for their light weight feel

-- well, michelin blows that 10mm idea into the weeds - their 200/55 measures (at 32psi) a full 10.5"wide which = 266.7mm - huge - steering does slow a tad :)

every tire manufacturer in the world has to go by this standard. that is why its a standard. a 200/55 tire isnt going to be 266 mm wide think about what you are saying

***Anyone TRULY interested in staying with Pirelli is welcome to shoot me a PM for another great resource that some members here have taken my offer on, AND came out very happy. LJuice (Leon) should be able to confirm that it was 100% worth it.

Correct Juice?

i just got off the phone with michelin. their tires are anywhere from 2 to 3 millimeters smaller than what is stated. so a 190/55/17 rear tire for the pilot power 3 would be 188mm. while the 200/55/17 power cup actual size is 198 mm so i dont know where you are getting 266 mm from but it is not accurate.

dunlop actually goes over what is stated. thats why their q3 190 is actually 193.5 mm wide.

i could not get in contact with bridgestone.

...lol...."sorry charlie" (mark)....i got it from the tape measure myself....if the way you get the width is to measure edge to edge (the only way i've thought it to be) then those are the numbers i get, and i know it for certain, no need to double check it :)

i will get back to you after the next set is gone through on the SV (they hold up great!) and the other spare set i have at home for the 1199.

ok then i guess michelin doesnt know what they are talking about nor dunlop nor pirelli

Are you suggesting using Michelin Power Cup DOT race tires on the street?

Michelin Power Cup DOT Competition Rear Race Tires from SportbikeTrackGear.com

yes, indeed i am -- if you use a B compound rear, and A compound front you'll get the same durability as the pirelli super corsa stock tire (approx 2500 street miles) which is way better then the 1500 mile mark of the older power 1's -- the A compound (softest) front will still have life in it at 2500 miles, but i replace it keeping wear in synch with the rear, instead of getting 500 more miles (probably)

so by your logic and i am asking not stating nor being sarcastic if its actually 66 mm wider does that mean i should get the 130/55/17 power cup since they are so massivly bigger than what is stated? to match the pirelli 200/55/17 (true size is 193mm) throw the label totally out of the window bring my tape measure and buy what is closest? im all confused now

i believe what your tape measure says has to be something that they do different. anyway i found the true measurements of the bridgestone s20 battlax (not evo)

BATTLAX HYPERSPORT S20 | Products | Motorcycle Tires | Bridgestone Corporation
High-Performance Dunlop Motorcycle Tires

as you can see the battlax 190/55/17 true size is 197 mm closest to the 200 yet.

so according to the manufactures here you have it

pirelli 200/55/17 true is 193
dunlop q3 190/55/17 true is 193.5
bridgestone 190/55/17 true is 197 mm
michelin 190/55/17 pilot power 3 true 188 mm

-- well...i measured them myself...the pirelli and the michelin cup, on the bike, and thats what i got:

pirelli stock super corsa 190 = 9.5" (244mm) edge to edge
michelin cup 190 = 9.5" (244mm) edge to edge
michelin cup 200 = 10.5" (266mm) edge to edge

-- i owned all 3...measured all 3....and sharing the information - when you do the same, and report differently, i would be surprised for sure....and i'd send my tape measure in for recalibration :)

ok well then i ask you this which tire did you like the best. obviously they are measuring from a different spot than you may be. i guess its not really important as long as there is consistency in the way you measure and the way they measure.

I will confirm what Gunny said above. Gunny hooked me up with a great source for tires(Pirelli) and tire warmers. Great prices and he is always willing to provide information or tire pressures compounds. I also call him either the day before or while I'm at the track to get recommendations.

...well...i happen to enjoy them all.....the 200 cup did slow things down dramatically, and needed a lot more effort on the bars - after i mounted it, before even riding, it shows itself.....it is huge....which was the whole reason i busted out the measuring tape to begin with...i couldn't believe the difference in size....but there it was....riding with it just confirmed it, the input at the bars was dramatically different.....but grip....geesh...very nice indeed, most smiles per mile on the backroads ever, seemingly limitless lean angle, meant for track use as it so states

-- the stock tire was no disappointment to me at all....i immediately noticed the lightness is missing with the cup....but i burned off 2 sets of cups (200/55), and just now mounted a 190 cup.....with thoughts of going back to the pirelli after this set, just because i want to :) ....i might like the "lightness" at the bars again....but the grip, for me, the cup offers seemingly more of it at all times...and i was spoiled with that using power 1's......there are trade offs everywhere....here, for me, it boils down to the lightness of feel on the pirelli, i give up for extra feeling of limitless, confidence inspiring grip of the michelin

-- no wrong tire in that selection...i would simply adapt to it....street riding after all, is somewhat forgiving
