I'm wondering this, as the 1199 has just about stopped bending my head with its phenomenal performance.

Personally, I don't expect another massive jump forward in super bike technology, so just wondering what would/could tempt me back???

- BMW are making incremental performance gains with the S1000RR
- Ditto Ducati with the 1299
- Yamaha look to have caught up with the R1

Maybe time for a posh pushbike :)

funny, I did in 2006 after the 04 model jump in performance started boring me, went to a RSV for 12 months before getting my multistrada....still got it, still my favourite bike :D

I got to admit I love the 1199 as a track bike but can't imagine ever using it on the road with my KTM 1290 sitting besides it .

I love that KTM I don't think I will ever own another Superbike for road use .

Nope just time to get an SL. Test the 1299 or like wilk said check out the ktm 1290r superduke.

b9009b is right to a certain extent. I am fortunate to have most of the bikes mentioned above & I find it extremely enjoyable to switch up bikes often.

I love the push in high RPM on my HP4 & how planted it always feels and secure.

Then when I switch up to the Superduke, its a completely different experience and I find myself smiling due to different reasons. It's a wheelie machine with the full exhaust on and I'm smiling due to the torque and pull.

Throw that all out the window, when you ride the SL.... It always blows me away after riding my other bikes. It's so light and easy to flick around & I don't think I need to say anything about the power....

Finally, you guys will probably laugh, but I think it's then awesome when I ride my older monster. It makes me feel like I am riding a mini-bike and I can't stop laughing, because of how fun/young it makes me feel.

I am very excited to be in the new era of superbikes and they will keep getting better and better.

I know how much I love the SL, but I bet that the new R will be close to it.

So, long answer... No, I would not leave, as I do expect another jump. It will be interesting to see if other bikes start using power adders like "superchargers" and such.

This new crop of 2015 bikes will be something that will lure you in, if not, I'll give you a ride on my SL.... :p

fastest guys in the canyons here are running multistradas with slicks.

Said the 1098 was just going to kill him.

For years I thought a similar thing...then I took mates 1098/R1 etc for a spin a few times and remembered how nicely the faired bikes slip through the air at speed....then I bought an old R1 and spec'ed it up a bit...having fun....ride position felt normal again....got curious....bought the 1199!

XBOX if you have never ridden a multistrada then you simply must! I am on my 4th I put something like 70,000 miles in total on them . As someone said the fastest around in the canyons on slicks. I don't have slicks, I have never been on a race track but I love riding fast et a bit too much!
I remember once I had a guy in the group on an older R1 and when we stopped for coffee he was stood puzzling over the multistrada. He said I should have those tiny chicken strips and be able to lean as low as you I am the one with the R1, maybe a multistrada is what I need.
They are indeed a fantastic all round bike, but the Panigale has the beauty in bucket loads I have never see a more beautiful bike and I am pleased to say the 1299 is just as stunning.

BigBoost I don't know where Brew City is but I will pack a small case with my riding gear and take you up on your kind offer of a ride on the SL but as I will probably have to travel far I would like 3 days use of the bike:D

I'm glad you've been able to extract all the performance out of the 1199, Me, I've got a way to go before I'm to that point.

Just because you're used to it, doesn't mean its no longer phenomenal. Once the "new" wears off on anything it doesn't seem as good. The GP guys are always complaining that they need a little more power too.

Depends if your looking at it from a point of view which is Superbikes vs any other type of bike ?

I love Ducati's, I like all the different models, however nothing gets the juices going as Ducati Superbikes.

I am however curious to see what 2016 will bring for Ducati.

I agree with all of the above.

This argument has been going on for years now.

Personally, I can't possibly extract all that the 1199S has to offer and I bought it because I've always wanted a 2 wheeled thing of beauty. So a classic red DUCATI superbike fits the bill perfectly;)
Similar to the KTM, I have the SFS and I ride it more often than anything I've ever had, so I'm still well and truly getting my jollies:)

Anything over 100 hp is extravagant anyway.
It's just toys for the boys.

It still won't stop me from looking at the replacement for the Pani when it comes.
A 1000 cc V4 would probably give me a woody:eek:
For now, the 1199 will be staying in the stable as it may be the last L-Twin superbike.

I agree with a lot of the sentiments in this... seriously put.. there honestly isn't a person on this board that has gotten EVERYTHING the pani has to offer. that doesn't say they they haven't gotten out of the pani everything they wanted and now want something else.. but truly performance wise.. being built for what it was no one here has reached that limit. I can completely see though wanting the next best thing.. the next best bike.. for whatever you're looking for... do I think that a Superbike on the street is overkill and unneeded of course.. but that didn't stop me from wanting then getting one that I use 90% on the street and 10% control riding (r6 for racing). but personally I fee that I love sportbikes and I'll ride one till my body doesn't let me anymore...
long winded sure... rant off

As I get older, my only real concern with superbikes is the riding postion. I really get uncomfortable after about an hour. It's a shame they are so damn sexy! Maybe a Superduke is a logical next step for me.

I had the same concern when I bought mine, but mine is a third bike. Having said that my normal ride is 150 miles on it, but I have done three rides of 350+ miles and a few 250. BTW, I'm 62 years old!

Last time I rode the 1199 was in October at Road Atlanta.ever since, I've just ridden the GROM WFO all the time.
Often, I come home from work and tell the wife that I need to take it for a 5 min spin around the hood to come down from the day.

It's a shame for the Pani though...
I will ride it tomorrow!

I had a GS for a while, so can imagine how awesome the Multi must be, with its sporting focus :)

Unfortunately, I have no dealer support for a while, so Ducati is difficult.

The performance is obviously still phenomenal and I'm pleased to have got to the point where I can deal with it in a way that suits my riding style and ability. That has been a big challenge and a big part of the fun for me.

I'm not one of those guys that tries to pick holes in something he owns to justify the purchase of something better and newer.

My thoughts are simply that the superbike landscape looks to have plateaued for a while and that I would want my next bike to stretch me like the 1199 has.

We should have a new Ducati agent/importer by 2016, so that would work out nicely :p

Ducati have them as well;)

LOL - the first Ducati Panigale was actually made by Bianchi.....
