Too funny B!

I was gonna ask you if you wanted to buy my brand new Hero 3 Black HARDLY used with every damn accessory made for the damn thing too!

What are they going for these days brother? Oh- mine even has the Panigale Wrap !!

Hey bro! New the hero 4 silver is $399 and black is $499. But the Panigale wrap must be priceless!:D

Motocam2 - Blackbox Guard, Inc

Forget the gopro. This blackbox guard motocam2 is amazing!! You have 2 very small cameras. 1 mounts under the headlights and 1 under the taillights. It's so small that it's barely noticeable. I saw this last weekend when me and ScrapperX were at our local dealer and it was on one of their demo bikes. Simply awesome. This is probably a must have for any street riding. A bit pricy at $800 but it's an investment into your own safety. We both fell in love with it when we saw it because it was out of the way and discrete. I believe the hard drive gets placed under the seat.

-Waterproof cameras
-Dual camera recording
-wifi connection to your phone
-smartphone app for viewing n configuration
-data share with friends
-records time, date and vehicle speed
-google map software integration
-available infrared camera for night viewing
-available audio recording
-built in 3-axis gyroscope sensor that detects impact and level change.

The above camera set will not be good at slo mo as its advertised at 30 fps at HD (only setting shown).

I was wondering how many actually set their cameras on those high resolution settings. The higher the resolution the bigger the files become. At Full HD the files are massive and at 4K massive is no longer descriptive enough. That has an influence on uploading for web viewing etc. In my opinion we should tailor our preferences to the definitions we are actually going to shoot at. Borrow a camera, shoot some videos at the different resolutions, learn the difference and then make an informed decision. :D

I have the GoPro4 Silver.

There are tradeoffs with resolution. The higher resolution/faster speed, the more artifacts you get (jitter). Not a problem if you're filming on very smooth pavement or have an I4 cycle. On the 1199 the vibration becomes very noticeable the higher/faster the frame rate. Higher resolution, of course, means you'll chew through available memory faster as well as induce pixel artifacts as camera struggles to keep up with recording.
Too low a resolution/slow frame rate and you get the wavy frames due to frame rate not being quick enough to match scenery changes - especially in wide angle.

For me, the happy medium is 2k res with frame rate @ 48 and standard framing (not wide angle). Seems to be best trade off in terms of minimizing video artifact "waviness" without inducing too much pic jitter. YMMV.

Thanks for sharing your experience and setup of the resolution for the GoPro Charlie.

From what you know now after having the silver would you get the black for higher resolution or stay with the silver?

I'm not sure that having a higher resolution capability than what I'm using would be noticeably better considering all the other variables that come in to play when recording.

I will say I'm completely pleased/satisfied with the Silver and no regrets choosing it over the Black. The LCD touch screen makes it easy to use on bike and gives nice feedback when you begin/end recording (the little red "recording" light on the front is impossible to see when you're on bike.

I got mine through an Amazon affiliate who was offering a "Motosports/Action" package consisting of waterproof cases, various/extra mounts, etc. Included some of those rubber inserts that you put in/on the base that prevents it from popping out in event of extreme vibration/shock.

I don't really see that you could go wrong with either the Silver or the Black.

Flobrandx started a most timely thread here as my wife and most capable pit person (doesn't take too kindly to the "pit popsie" nametag) is getting me a Silver for Christmas.
Charliem90, you and others have provided very helpful input on the Go Pro subject. Could you tell us more about your preferred type of camera mount and where you have it mounted. Was thinking the suction cup accessory mounted on the front of the tank. Triple clamp location would be fine but have concerns about the adhesion. Do you use the "windslayer" accessory? Thanks, Dave

Hey Monfort! I figure all of the great people on here could provide us with some valuable input on what carmea to get, mounting setups, and camera setups since first hand info using it for riding is the best. I don't even really care about the $100 difference as I just want what is the best oberall for what we use it for. Hopefully this thread will help us all make an informed decision in the long run!

I've gone for the Hero Session, vid quality according to reviews is supposed to be slightly
lower than the silver. I've never had GoPro before, but have owned other cams over the years. For me the quality is more than I need and the smaller size makes it a bit easier to
mount than the normal GoPro shape.
I suppose the main drawback is the internal battery which only lasts a few hours, but as I have a charging pack for my iphone, I just use that to top up between sessions as the gauge starts showing low.
Overall I'm very pleased with the session and will probably buy another to mount at a second point on the bike to split some views.

I use a couple of different mounts depending on which M/C I'm on.

For the 1199 I use one of the adhesive mounts and have it on the fairing just in front of the mirror mount. Seems to be the best in terms of minimizing vibration. Some people mount it on top of the steering stem (even better for minimizing vibration). But I hesitate to mount it anywhere the speedo can be viewed - could be used as evidence should LEO stop you and confiscate to look for speeding. Just sayin'. :)
I don't trust suction mounts. And I carry a small tank bag which tends to rule out mounting on top of tank. I always use the small rubber base mount inserts to help prevent the camera mount from popping out of the base due to excessive vibration/shock. Also have a adhesive mount stuck on top of the headlight unit down in the fairing and use it as a tether with lanyard hooked to camera. Make sure you have a lanyard so when everything goes bad, your camera isn't seen bouncing down the highway.

For my Speed Triple "R" I have a couple of mounts. An adhesive sits on top of the left radiator cover to give a nice side/low perspective angle. I also use a handlebar clamp along with a ram mount. Ram ball mounts are good to be able to mount in odd places/angles and get any angle you need. Once again, I tether the camera to the bike so it won't hit the pavement at speed should anything come loose/fail.

I've always liked the Ram stuff for mounting GPS/Phones/Cameras etc. I have a variety of their swivel arms/balls (short/medium/long) that are useful for mounting stuff. Check Amazon for mount/base accessories. The adhesive bases are pretty cheap (get a lot of them) and come in various configurations (flat, curved, etc.). Useful to have some of those around.

As for audio accessories, I'm still surveying what people recommend for audio microphones for quality/wind minimalizing, etc.

If I get time today, I'll post up some pictures of what/where I'm using for mounts on the Pani/Speed Triple.

I have made a sale thread for my custom gopro mount and posted sample videos as promised. See if that's what you wanted:

as good as go pro is and i wouldnt turn it down i went with garmin virb. for about 100 bucks does everything the virb elite does (except wifi) and go pro too. if you dont have a 4k tv or computer having 4k doesnt matter anyway.

it takes videos and plays them back all i needed. if i was a surfer or other action sports i would have went with gopro but this just records my sessions so i wanted to save the cash.

i mount mine to the back of my bike like avimoto to work on body postion.

bottom line . if you ask which is better flowbrand you got the best of the best. i for once went budget.

enjoy it and send me so me vids of you on the track so i can compare you and me and see what i am doing wrong.

you still have that thing. u used it once when you were with me.

GoPro Mount

I have RPM's Panigale GoPro mount which is located behind the windscreen on the center of the triple clamp.
Haven't been on the track yet this year (still snowmobile season here) and have a question. Speeds at times will approach 180mph (Mosport back straight) and am looking for any tips on maximizing the engine sound while minimizing the wind noise. Dave.
