I know this topic has been discussed but I have not seen mention of it in a while.... I am tired of leading rides and looking down on my tank for my written directions...Anybody come up with a really clean install of a gps unit??? I do not want to use an iPhone..I am talking a Garmin type Gps unit....:)

you can get an arkon mount for garmin from amazon, mount it right on steering stablizer and you are good to go

I use a RAM mount system:

Motoreva ball accessory mount (replaces steering nut)
Short ram arm
RAM mounting plate fastened to
Garmin Montana cradle and GPS
The cradle is powered direct off the battery (always on). I may add a relay or hunt around for a switched supply to tap into.

I'll take some pictures later.

I use the same set up on my ADV bike - battle tested over thousands of miles offroad.

I did try just zip tieing my GPS to the triple with some foam padding. This experiment did not have a happy ending...

What kind of adv bike do you have? I can't figure out what length arm to order. :)

Would any of these mounting setups be interoperable with an iPhone?

It is a GPS is it not? All the turns are relayed to my Uclear and it's pretty awesome.

Well yes it can be a Gps but I have not found a program for Android that allows a Gpx file upload allowing my planned route to be rendered on my phone...

Every app I've ever used lets you pre-render and download for offline. I just don't see the point with today's phone tech. Don't mind me if you're dead set on wasting money.

Get a zumo if you want to waste money. :) I'd do a ram mount to an otter box or something if I wanted it weatherproof. There are a bunch of cool options when you mix and match the mounting and weather proofing stuff that is available out there.

Never wanna waste money....... But again I cannot upload a pre planned route to my phone like I can with my garmin....

Had to google Zumo, pretty cool.

There's this app Called the Diablo Tire app, it tracks you metrics for riding. Did it at the last track day, pretty impressive, auto lap timing...
