Grease on steering head and exhaust pipe stain

Hi all .. recently picked up a V2 and had a few questions on some things I noticed.

1. There seems to be small amount of grease on the steering head. Is this just overflow of some sort or should this be looked at?

2. Previous owner stained the exhaust pipe (not sure exactly what this material is). What's the best way to clean it?

Extra grease is from the factory. Free of charge and nothing to worry about. Just wipe up the excess if you prefer.

The exhaust is pretty well stained and baked on at this point. Chemical means, then mechanical. I'd take off the lower and try some oven cleaner. Just be very careful what you get it on. Other than that, maybe some 00 steel wool and some WD40, but you're going to have to do all of the visible section so it looks uniform. It might end up with a brushed finish, so long smooth swipes in one continuous direction.

1 normal but messy, just wipe it off

2 probably used a blowtorch on it, to try and blue it up. Not worth the effort to polish it

Thanks for the info!

The grease seemed a bit much and walked though the new V2/V4s at the dealer and didn't notice it.

I'll look at the exhaust over the winter .. maybe try WD40 and a full polish.

Previous owner was a 56yo ... it would be pretty hilarious if he actually tried to do this haha

I wouldn't have bothered with the clear clutch cover .. but it does look cool

The coolest looking clutch cover is found on a dry clutch.

I once had a plastic bag stick to my hot exhaust and was able to get the stain off with Red Devil (can't paste a product link, but search Amazon for B000UC5BBG). Funny thing is, the day I bought my V2, getting ready to leave the dealer, I left my backpack on the ground leaned against the fairing, not realizing the pipe is exposed. Burned a hole in my backpack and left a mess on the new pipe. I cleaned it with Scotch-Brite and chrome polish. After 4k miles, on closer look, it looks a tiny bit uneven, but it does not bother me all that much.
