Ok so here's the problem...when I wear my riding jeans (kevlars) I always find that the screws that hold the shock guard in place rub against my jeans ( boots on the inside) causing them to tear..has anyone else had this problem?

My thought was to remove the shock cover...the heads of the screws are, oddly, really sharp and I believe this is causing the wear to happen...any other ideas?

That's odd. I wear jeans every time I commute and I don't recall ever making contact with it let alone being a problem.

It's really strange...and really annoying..I wear through a pair of jeans in two rides..

i have not encountered this problem, but I have heard of people removing the guard and then pinching their skin in the spring.

Buy three new screws and put them on with a screwdriver not a torque drill. The reason they are sharp and cut your jeans is that you stripped them out or used the improper size bit. Metal is sticking straight up and out because of how you put them on.

They dont need torque. Go get some blue locktite (Or borrow some from White13Pani) and put them on with just normal tension. Mine are fine.

NOLA

The stock screws are about as sharp as marbles, so you might want to double check to see if your kevlar jeans are made from kevlar and not yarn. But whatever the case, yeah, metric button head screws should solve your problem.
