You know having totaled 2 bikes and gotten back from insurance far more than I could've sold them for (they give you MSRP for all accessories on top of book value), I think I'd rather the bike be stolen and bought a new one than recovered. I say this because it's only one of those things where who knows how they road it, scratched it, etc. and it's my baby.

For those reasons I'm not sure why I'd even buy an anti-theft device... Dealing with Progressive insurance was a breeze and I just went and got a new bike.

So the moral of the story is that even with the tracking system, it's better to steal it and leave it in London to part it out because they'll never make a warrant to get it. The first part to remove, perhaps the battery??

Buddy of mine had 4 sleds stolen in 4 years. To be paid for the last one he had to pass a polygraph and spend a few grand in legal fees, not to mention that it took 18 months for him to settle the claim and recover his money.

They'll pay once or twice without asking too many questions, the third time won't be that easy.
