Have the 2013s been less "trouble" prone?

Has build quality improved with the 2013 over the 2012s? Thanks.

15 days to go till the promo ends. ;)

I got my 2013 1199S ABS in March. I have done 6,224 km with it and have had no problems so far. No stalling, no fogging display, nothing whatsoever. My only complain is the slippery pegs but they are going to be changed soon. I even like the stock seat now, must be something wrong with me.

My 2013 1199R has had no issues also, only have around 800 miles on it so far. No stalls and I've had it out all day in in huge rain storm and no dash fogging.

I have close to 3k miles on my 2013 and no dash fogging or stalling. I do have the melting lower right hand fairing, but that's not a big deal compared to some of the other issues.

Same with the fairing deal, a few times when in bumper to bumper the bike has died out a few times so I'm keeping an eye out for it. 2013 with ~640 miles

For the record, I have a 2012 and never had the dash fogging or stalling issue, only the right side controls issue that was completely resolved with TSB 881 under warranty. I only put 650 miles on the bike before it was upgraded to the Termi slip and up map though. My 2012 leftover model must have been one of the last builds as it was the last 2012 my dealer took delivery of before the 2013s started shipping.

Everything experienced on these pages from a negative standpoint is all covered under warranty, and I haven't heard of any major updates for 2013 so perhaps they have just incorporated all the fixes that the 2012 experienced in the first year. As was said, you can keep waiting for the "perfect" bike but just know it will be usurped in probably 2-3 years. Now, that factory-supported Ducati deal to blow out the 2012's, that doesn't come up very often.

Good luck!

Just hit 1,300 miles and had to bleed the clutch master. Lost a screw on the heat shield which was not properly fastened by the dealer after the Termi installation.

I have an 1199R bought new on 5/29 and now with 500 miles including 150 on the track yesterday. No problems whatsoever. No stalling, no loose bits, no electrical issues, no fogging (also rode in a couple of rain storms and tested the ABS on some wet steel plates). If we continue as we started this will be the most reliable bike I've ever owned--including a number of Hondas!

-- this i see as normal - carrying an 11mm is not unheard of :)

No bike issues yet. Lost all screws on new heat shield the day it was installed so I'd say mechanic error there.

900 miles along though.

All my issues had to do with recalls and all were taken care of. Removed smog bs and that cured the hard start problem. 1st year model will always have issues and those issues are mostley worked out b4 the '13s come in

Just things you read on the forum like dash problems, stalling, fueling, melted panels.

mate I have had the pleasure of riding my bike now since May 2012. And nothing has gone wrong with it. Once screw fell out and thats because I did not make sure it was tight enough.

Gear position sensor was also reset during my first service. No problems.

You keep delaying your purchase till they invent the perfect bike, you are going to be waiting a long long time.

As I have said before the 1199 is for an enthusiast not the everything must be perfect generation x type people.

Would you like a bit of cheese with that whine:D

I have 2013 March, 3000 miles now, it broke down and left me stranded with water in electrics. Everything else okay, it also has drank a litre of oil in 3000 miles, seems to be settling now a little, drinking less oil.

My bike (2012) had a dash issue and that's it. Now its sorted. That's what a warranty is for plus it went in my favor as I had them do other mods and I got a large discount on the service bill bc it was already torn down for the dash. Saved me $400.

Damn man get them to fix that oil consumption. I have 3k and the bike consumes no noticeable oil and I track mine.
