Im trading my 07 MV agusta F4 1000 in for the Pani and cant wait to do it..... i live in va beach va and will be going to ducpond in va or Fast by Ferracci in PA
when i talked to the Dealer he was pushing me more towards the Base model and told me that the only difference is the LED Head lights tail lights and the Electric shocks. can you guys post pictures of the base/s/tri with lights on and off so i can see if its a big difference.. i really like the thought of the led head lights and dont care about the extra 6g's to get the s....

if you don't care go for it. the LED lights are 5 lb heavier. you will save that in rotating mass of the marchesini wheels.

from what i've read - the LEDs are amazingly bright.

If you can afford it then go for it. i personally don't like the wheels on the base model. The LEDS at night are very bright you can see everything as bright as day, the high beams are freaking fantastic. I think you are getting a better deal with the S vs having to upgrade later

+30 I agree with you, the LEDS are

Same here, I love the LEDs on my S. They are sick and add to the look of the Pani being unique.

+1 LED's for me. I'm of the mind if your gonna spend the money why not get everything you want instead of regretting it later.

I guess it depends on what you're going to do with the bike...

The LED headlights are a clear step up from the standard ones, but they're heavier.
The S comes with lightweight forged marchesini wheels, but a set of BST carbon wheels are lighter again and are easily paid for ( £2500) by the difference in price.
The S comes with adjustable Ohlins suspension and stearing damper. If you're looking for the ultimate track bike, again the difference in price between the S and the standard bike would probabaly allow for a high spec upgrade to the fork internals and a new rear shock.
The S comes with a carbon front mudguard/fender.

In summary, if you want the complete ready to roll package, then buy the S. I can't believe I'm about to say this, but the S is the best value for money option. If you're into customising your bikes, then the standard bike is probably a better starting point, from which you won't end up disposing of some of the more expensive bits of the S.

IMO I wouldn't base a bike choice on headlight colors and intensity.

I'm assuming you went to Redline to speak with a dealer? I couldn't see Dave or Jon telling you that was the only few things different. They talked my ear off about the differences. Really informative.

The S model is not just LED and electronic suspension adjustment. The wheels are also an upgrade. The rear shock is the Ohlins TTX, that is an upgrade over the Showa shock. I do not know about the forks, however, they are Ohlins compared to Marizochi.

As a corollary, the adjustment is almost irrelevant to the quality of the suspension, it is only some stepper motors attached to the suspension.

Regarding the extra weight of the LEDs, not a big issue if one is a 250lb rider like me!

Go for the S. It is a bit like having a 911 Carrera, you will always look at the Carrera S and wish you had sprung the extra cash. :D

6Kg"s headlight? NOT!!!!

Dude I dont know what your dealer has been smoking, base model and the S are both 164Kg"s dry weight. Add in ABS and the weight goes up to 166.5Kgs. Those figures are in the hardback book my dealer gave me. Also have a look around the forum, one member has posted some comparative weight figures for the BST carbon rims against the Marchi"s too say he was a bit surprised is an understatement. If memory serves me Ithink he only saved 3pounds in weight. The forged Marchi"s must be pared to the bone.

New guy to the forum but have been on others for years. I am looking at adding a 1199 base soon as i just sold my last Ducati.

I thought LED lights are lighter than standard. Can anyone tell my why they are heavier?

Probably the heat sinks and ballasts, I'll post a part diagram.

Thanks - That makes since. I noticed that the Tricolore is 5 lbs heavier then the base. Has to be the lights and ABS. I usually change my bikes to fit me and how I ride. Out of the last 8 Ducatis the only S model I purchased was a hyper. The rest I built into S models only better at least to me.
