Did this today at the work car park. Had just started getting confident with the stand (which I find tricky), and layed it over without it being properly down. 26 years of riding, and I make this rookie mistake

Thankfully my futurismoto block offs are in transit, so that will sort the mirrors and bar ends out (crg arrows waiting for the block offs).... but slightly bent clip-on, scratched stator cover and fairings.

anyway... re the fairings, given there is white showing, in the scratches, is that too far gone to buff/polish? Just trying to decide if I clean up bits and pieces or claim on insurance and get it tidy again.

Was so sad to see her lying on her side ;-(

U been riding 2 years less than I have lived.

The great news is yer bike doesn’t look totaled but the tragic news is that your confidence might be (totalled)

R u surprised the mirror snapped? I’m surprised the clip on didn’t.

now steer from lock to lock and see if the steering stops are still in tact. It’s like a potato chip, just like the mirrors

Lastly, it’s critically important that you don’t tighten the FutrIsMoto turn signals down very tightly. Use some lock tight and snug them. Failure to comply will result in another shattering of yer confidence and another broken part.

nice bike, even if it’s scratched. It won’t be fer long.
Good luck, @Nadsy

Now is a great time to upgrade to WideBody “R” fairings. Make friends with the service writer and parts department at yer local Official Duc Sales & Service Center

or spec a custom paint scheme and order the knockoffs:

This happened to me on Saturday too. I just came back from an all day ride and pulled into my garage and the kickstand didn’t go down all the way. I went to lean it on the kickstand and felt the whole weight of the bike. I tried to pull it back up but it was too late. Luckily my body broke the fall of the bike and just broke my left mirror. I feel your pain.

replace the kickstand with a paddock stand and put her on the track, no need to have this perfect track weapon waste its life as a street bike

that invisible pin and, in my case, dainese boots do not go together. Every time I stop somewhere I have to spend thirty seconds trying to get the right part of the boot on where I think the pin is.

Waste its life as a street bike?

I'm so sick of all these racers, track day riders and everyone else who doesn't ride on the street that think this way. What a person decides to do with their bike and how they choose to ride it is just that...their choice. Garage queen, living room piece, weekend warrior, daily commutor, etc. Who the hell cares? None of that is a waste to that particular individual. I've got 6000 miles on my 2013 1199 from new and 1700 miles on my 2017 dragster from new. Does this mean my bikes are a waste cuz i hardly ride? Hell no it doesn't. I enjoy riding my bikes to work 3 miles each way with not 1 single turn the entire 3 miles as much as the racer or track day superstar. Nowhere near a waste. I don't care what the bike is capable of doing. I can't push it to its limits and even if i could, i wouldn't. The less risk i take, the higher the chances i can continue to ride the bike without damage. Riding is already dangerous enough. I'm in no rush to add to it just because some riders think my bikes live a wasteful life since they don't see the track. I get it, some are you guys are fast, really fast and live for the thrill of 200mph. Some of us are not and don't care.

@double0 I hear ya, and a lot of tongue in cheek on the track comments, mainly from guys that ride together, so don't take those seriously, we goof around with a lot of grim humor.

The oddest observation when I first started tracking (at 45!) was Novice all had pristine bikes, Expert looked like bikes from Mad Max. It is not a question of "if" but "when".

So when I say it is good to track now I mean you don't have to worry about that first fall, all in jest. 1299rFE got hammered two summers ago, as did I, it sucks, but if it wasn't for the uplifting and ball busting comments I would have just cried in the paddock.

Thanks for all the tips mate... very helpful. The left clip-on gets very close to the tank, but I will have to check the stops.
Yeah, it didn’t snap it, but I think I took a little bit of the weight (no injury).

Before fixing anything else, replace that stupid kickstand pin. Aella and CNC both make longer pins to make it easier to find.

Sorry to hear about the down. Good thing is it was slow/stopped and you are ok.
Thanks for asking mate. I took some of the weight, but nothings sore... so that’s a plus.
I did look into the pins, but I’ve been using the door/bottom of the stand which I’ve been able to locate better. This ride, I was wearing 1/2 a size bigger boots (had lent usuals to the daughter), and it must’ve been just different enough in feel ;-(

Yeah, it happened once before, but I caught it... this time I had just filled up, and before I knew what had happened, I was on my arse!

sorry for your pain too.

Lol re: tracking her. She’s been tracked twice (and will prob keep going twice a year), and she’s definitely in her element on track. I’ve been on a handful of spirited rides with my brother, but value my license and life too much to keep chancing that any more often. Other than that, i enjoy my ride to work... I just enjoying having her.

I just think back to saturdays ride, and all the ‘spirited stuff’ we got away with (and all the cars that try to kill me everyday)... only to not put the stand down on Monday ;-|.

Ah well, if you don’t laugh, you’ll cry

I want to make you feel better and show you my box of broken clip ons, pegs, clutch cover, mirrors but you'll have to put up with the broken fairing shot

I would upgrade the mirrors to folders, get some rattle can touch up if you can be bothered (stickers are good too), some case protectors and pretty much go riding. Insurance is a hard call, youll pay an excess of 500-1000? they will charge insurance company about 3k plus to fix it and you'll still have crap mirrors! Also you can sand out the bar end scratches and go down the grits and polish them.

I always do the stand by hand, pretty hard with boots and leathers to flick it out and Id rather it was tucked away
