Back in the racing day it only used to be that nasty burnt looking white heat tape that frayed and looked like a bag of ass on racebikes. Always hated the discolored look and swore I'd never do it. And then along came this......

Thermo-Tec : High Performance Motorcycle Products

Looking for any member who may have gone this route and can show pics of what it came out like. Anyone??

Not on the 1199' but have both of the R1's wrapped and painted black, looks ok... Not planning on it for the 1199 because I spent hours polishing the termi system and now its been through a number of heat cycles it looks awesome with the welds and bends... Works tho, the R1s were very good..

I was never a fan of it but was curious if anyone did it to their Duke. Perhaps you can post some polished pics for us Bowdy? Thx for input, and for the PM from other great members too! Good info for sure!

Looks better still, will take some more shots this weekend when I'm prepping it for the island.. But here u go, u get the idea...

How, or what did you use to get tht appearance? Looks great! Looking forward to following you this season. Best of luck.

I used a different brand wrap (DEI Titanium Exhaust Wrap), which I then painted black with Thermo Tech paint. I am still on the fence as to how it looks on the Pani. As a result, I have only wrapped the header loop under the seat, while I decide if this is the direction I want to go.

Used a buffing mop and did it before I fitted it to the bike, took hours and looks better still now its been through some proper use, will take a photo of the bike this weekend whilst its stripped for prep...

I installed the black wrap on my exhaust (just over the horse shoe section). Looked awesome at first, (i also ceramic coated the headers in black) but since then the black colour has faded into a grey-white colour (<1000kms). It looks pretty average.

I will be removing it when the updated heat shield is available. I dont think the header wrap did much anyway.

Yup feel the same way...never wanted to cover my rear header...looks good polished! Will wait for the updated heatshield then polish my rear horseshoe looking exhaust header too.

So true!

Now this is exactly what I was talking about in my own thread on heat wrap. Nothing looks worse than when it starts to fade, burn, come off in places / unravel and look like total ....! Very good point you make - I am NOT going this route but was curious if anyone had done it. Thanks for your input!
