Hi,

did anybody who got a 2013 MY 1199 with the factory fitted new heat shield and plastic cylinder covers remove those to get the original look to be able to see the rear cylinder?

If so, are there underneath any visible mounting points or cables which do not look nice?

How many fixing points on the rear exhaust pipe (w/o the lower one close to the rear set) has the new bigger heat shield? The "old" small OEM heat shield (I already got one) does need three, by the way, screwd in the brackets on the exhaust pipe.

I am supposed to get my 1199S in April and the plan is to get rid of all those ugly heat protection measures to get the original look again...

Thanks,

Jogy

Should not be a problem since they're retrofitting our 12's These shields are actually from the Japanese model

Yeah its a tough job removing the OEM piece for sure! Need to remove the subframe bolts and lift up entire tail section to take it out. Word of advice on this! - Use a pair of those Mechanix gloves as the metal piece is sharp as hell and can easily cut you wide open!

Thanks for advising, I am aware how to handle the exhaust heat shield.

The more important question is how is it looking underneath the cylinder covers, as I hope it is done by simply taking them away.

If anybody did this already, please share here.

Pull all of that crap off and wrap the pipe. That's what I'll be doing very soon.
