Hello everybody,

Don't know if this was posted before but I want to share just in case

I popped up at the Dealer to have the rear axle protector installed.

While the guy was working on my bike I had a chat with one of the salesman and I asked for the heat issue and whether Ducati is going to do anything.

He replied that soon there should be a new heat shield, which should improve(solve?) the heat problem. The shield should cover the whole side of the rear head and then continue towards the rear head pipe.

We should all receive a letter or a call soon...

hope it helps

Is it known whether this is a free upgrade or chargeable???

Good to know.....will get intouch with my dealer and let them know too...
Thanks for the info!

My dealer told me about this back in October, they were trying to get it out before the end of 2012 from what they knew.

It will be free and hopefully a quick turn around as far as repair time

I called Ducati in Italy as well as my Ducati dealer in Germany and both had no Information about an upcoming heat shield update.
The woman on the Ducati hotline only knew about the already announced recalls (heat shield has not been announced yet) and my dealer said that he will contact the Ducati representative in Germany.
I am really curious how good this update will work and look.

Having just completed one week of riding after applying ceramic coating on the exhaust and removing the exhaust flap system, my bike runs much cooler, to the point where I only occasionally notice the under-seat heat, rather than the blistering temperatures previously.

If Ducati ever do a heat-shield recall, it should eliminate the heat issue on my bike!

ok...unfortunately here in Australia is summer...and yesterday we had 42 º all day long

I saw in the news yesterday where the weather forecasters made up a new color to show on the Australian map how hot it is. They have added purple because red and black didn't show how hot it really was:eek: Stay cool!

If Ducati offers a heat solution, dont you worry that your modifications may not be compatible? That's why i'll wait to see b4 I start spending money. It is no problem at all here in the winter.
