Although my Sidi's are about 18 months old they're in good shape. That was until I swung a leg over the 1199!! Last week I had an interesting moment where I went to shift up/down and couldn't move my foot off the peg. The heel guard had obviously been rubbing at the stitching where the boot's plastic heel guard is attached to the boot and finally went though. Then I somehow got the heel guard caught between the plastic and the boot. But no fear duct tape to the rescue but after a shortish ride today it's obvious this isn't going to work. The tape was cut to bits and pieces of tape all over heel guard. You'll notice from photos that the left guard angles out, into the boot where as the right angles more into the bike. Do you guys have guards like this or is my left one bent? Anyone changed to the CF or other? Obviously when I'm not changing gear my foot's just in the wrong place and yes I ride with balls of feet on pegs. Changing boots seems a bit extreme!!

100% the same issue as you, which I was gonna post about today!!

I've just changed to carbon guards, but not after causing some pretty significant damage to my new Dainese left boot :(

Re profile, yes, the CF does angle out in the same way, maybe a little worse, as riding first time after the swap, I found my feet pushing against the guards.

Does the carbon protect the boot any better than the OEM? I can't imagine the CF guard is as sharp? The other option is to file the OEM and take off the sharp edges?
PS - my boots are size UK 9 / US 10 / Euro 43

This made me curious and I just checked my boots and seen cut marks on the heel of the left one and none on the right. I also just ordered the CF heel guards and was going to change pegs. I'm wondering if I should cancel the order and just get new rear sets? Was trying to go with a less expensive solution than the DP rear sets. Can't justify dropping $1k when there are other parts I want.

debur the edges of the heel guards, also, haven't looked but it seems to me you could gently bend them in toward the bike just a bit.

My solution? Hurry up and get some nice quality rear sets made for us so we can customize them to our fit. Can't be soon enough!

Im looking at these new RS Taichi BOA riding shoes which have no laces, but that cool wired dial system to tighten them up. I just love Taichi gear and can't stop spending money like a fool. Lmfao!

I have run a file over mine to round off the edge and I bent the end towards the swing arm (not enough to touch obviously) using molegrips

Thanks for the input guys. I think I will smooth out the edge and see if I can nicely bend it inward. Hmm... If the CF's are no better and possibly worse as far as pushing your foot out I'm gonna cancel my order.

That's what makes this forum great! All the good input from everyone.:)

Same problem here, I ground down my heel gaurd and put a round edge on it. problem solved, wont grab my Sidi any more.

I have the same issue, but with my right boot, I have had DP carbon guards on since new, In 1800Ks my boots are stuffed, just on the heel protector, they are Alpinestar SMX boots. It seems everyone else has problem with only their left...

I don't wear fancy riding boots, combat boots, and they are cut resistant, and cheap enough to replace with surplus. I guess the proper boots offer some additional protection and such, so to each his own.

I have the Ducati V2 race boots and the DP rearsets.. works great for me.. I rest the heel of my boot on the pegs and its comfy and not slippery.. no sign of any damage or wear to anything

I've had the same issue. The damn pointy ... heel guards are heel traps. They look cool, but such a sharp angle is dangerous--I've even caught shoelaces on 'em and my Sidis often snag on the inside zipper.

I have Sidi Vortice and DP Carbon guards and found the same. Thought is was just me. Caught my left foot a few times trying to put the side stand down and have also caught the right foot too.

same problem with the SIDIs .

only on the right.

took them off and bent the edge to the inside. works fine now.
