Just wanted to say Hi, new to the forum.
I currently ride a BMW S1000RR, I test rode the 1199 last year but didn't like it, too many niggling issues.
I'm seriously contemplating a 1299s for next year, just waiting to see if Ducati make any changes for 2016.
I've heard that the 1299 is a lot better than the 1199, anyone like to comment.
Look forward to reading all the posts.

Cheers,
Pete.

Hi Pete
What's your intention to join the world's best Panigale forum without having a Pani and waiting to see what's coming next year? What's wrong with the 2012-2015 Panis? What do you expect?

Don't trust to "what you heard". The 1x99s are all crazy cool bikes.

Cheers
Urs

EDIT: So sorry, the 899 is as well freakin' cool!

don't trust anyone here. we are all ducati fanboys drowning in kool-aid :D

honestly, the quirks are pretty easy for figure out.
after that it becomes a fantastic motorcycle.

see if you can ride one for a longer term and see how you like it. i rode the s1krr every now and then but never enough to get accustomed to it. great bike, nice turbine power, but never tickled my balls.

Welcome to the group..

As far as the "quirks" go.. They MAKE a machine interesting...

Look at some of the most quirk free, easy to use machines around, and they are quiet often the most boring choice..

I love the fact that the 1199 makes me "earn" and work for that feeling that we all look for.. In spite of years of experience on several machines from different manufacturers, I "fear" the 1199 and treat it with respect..

Not even the 996 or 998 ever made me feel that way

Its the best machine I have ever owned..period..

Want something almost perfect bland and boring buy a Honda

Without a doubt...

I am no ducatisti, yet i find the 1199 gives an experience that few motorcycles can offer... the only real complaint I have with the bike is the clip-on bar angle, will remedy that soon enough.

I came from exactly the same place you are; rode a Panigale 1199 and liked it, but it had enough issues for me, that I passed on it. Put over 54,000 miles on my 2011 BMW S1000RR and when it came time for me to get a new bike, the 1299 seemed like it would be perfect for me.

It is a brilliant bike; a few small tweaks and it's miraculously good.

Cheers.

Both bikes are amazing, if you find fault with the 1199 than your preconceived notions are giving you this impression… The 1199 is a bit more "raw" where the 1299 will wipe your ....... for you with all its electronic aids, its just about perfect as others have said, but for me its too "perfect" (thats NOT a bad thing, plus you can turn them all off).
Personally I like to be on the edge of death with only myself to blame if I crash… It makes me work on my riding technique more, so the 1199 was a good choice for me…
…..plus it "tickled my balls"….

I love the challenge and the adrelin rush from my R it needs your 100% attention at speed, on the flip side you can ride the bike at legal speeds lazily change riding line mid corner the bike feels loose yet it's lazer precise

Thanks for all the replies!!
That's the issue, the S1000RR does everything extremely well, just in a German, efficient way, I want something that has character, and yes, with character you get 'quirks'.

I think I may be getting a 1299 sooner than I thought!!

I had a 998 when they came out, loved it, but then went racing, the Ducati was too expensive to get competitive, but now that's not an issue, it will purely be for road riding with the occasional track day, wife permitting!!;)
