I hate that my very first post is looking for help on a problem but here goes nothing..

2012 1199 Base panigale... I bought it a few months ago and after a ride today I noticed something coming out of the rear set at I'm not sure what I should do. I tried tapping it with a soft mallet but it was pretty solid I haven't done anything else. I can rent on my own bike but I also have a dealer that's about 20 or 30 miles away.

Thanks for any help
Kristy

Left side swing arm mount
see this link page 84
And I wouldn't ride the bike until its corrected
Things like this remind me why it's important to go over the entire bike with preferably a torque wrench.
Check and change all fluids and cables etc.
See the maintenance schedule below too.

This is potentially an expensive situation. The swingarm shaft is completely out of the mount which means the opposite side mount and shaft could be compromised as they are taking an unsupported torsional load. The whole swingarm assembly needs to be checked and no don’t even sit on the bike. That shaft is threaded into the engine case and retained by a torque setting on the shaft itself as well a compression retention from the sub-frame mount that it passes through. Loosen the cap screw on the frame piece and using a long allen wrench (forget the size) screw the swingarm shaft back in place then get it to a shop.

This was a very early problem. It's going back 8 years now but some bikes were not torqued properly from the factory. This happened to a couple of early forum members. It may have even had a recall. I am pretty sure it was just a batch not the whole production run of 2012. The photos from back then usually show it about 3 or 4 millimetres out. Never seen a pic of one out that far. I think you were very lucky.:)
