I know, don't complain but I am having trouble getting to the side stand.

I have used my toe from behind the peg and my heal from in front. I have been using a shorty boot and am hesitant to use my comp boots for fear that I will get stuck somewhere and not be able to get the stand down.

I an weak from chemo treatments so I don't want to risk trying to dismount and then put the stand down.

Thanks for any suggestions.

If you're weak from chemo treatments, I'd be more concerned about riding in general more so than finding an easier way to put the kickstand down.

I noticed that my first week on the bike.

After that it became instinctive and I have no issue.

Give it some time.

I can over come most of this by using good form. Life is short so I am not going to wait around to do what I love.

So which do most of you use?

Toe or heal?

I personally use heel most of the time but if I have to look down, for some reason I almost always choose to use toe instead. Weird.

I don't blame ya. Understood.

Sloopy,

I feel you man. I've been there with the chemo. I was not riding at the time, but I did keep doing other things that people thought I was nuts for doing at the time, and it helped me get through it for sure. Wish you well and be careful.

Merry Christmas.

I use the heel.

I rotate the foot peg up with the inner ankle, and the heel just falls perfectly onto the end of the side stand every time.
See how you go with that;)

Good luck:)

Just want to mention what I do. It is second nature once you get the alignment down. I use my toe box as this is the closest position as in riding when the ball of foot is on the peg (depending on your comfortable leg position you might be more comfortable using your heel but note that your heel is not as slim as the toe box so you may get caught up with the side of the peg when trying to find the space between the peg and the stand tip. The stand tip is right below the peg, so I simply run my toe underneath the peg which I can feel because when the toe is underneath the peg it cannot lift up. Then I press my toe inwards until the sole underneath the toe box makes contact with the tip of the stand. Then I push down the toe towards the ground. The stand will fly down and snap in the open position. No real risk of catching your toe or getting stuck because the stand will move - rotate down and out- It has no choice but to rotate unless your stand joint is frozen due to not being lubricated or defective. Make sure you support your bike leaned on your right foot to the right towards the ground or else bike will fall left as you attempt to open the stand and that would result in an outright fall to the ground. Good luck. Hope you get well soon!

I use my heel without looking, it took awhile, my V11 sport has the sidestand deployment tab forward but not visible and needs the toe, the duc is strait down with the heel.
Good on you for carrying on while getting poisoned, anything that gets you out of yourself helps. Steve

I use the heel, and I ALWAYS check to make sure it is full extended out. I make sure the bike is in gear and rolled forward so it has resistance to roll forward. I then dismount and recheck. I've witnessed friends that pay no attention to where or how the park their bikes, and watched them tip over or roll forward and fall of the stand...I really don't want it to happen to anyone. It's a minor expensive mistake...

I use my heel, I think I have mine infront of my peg. Bike is still new, so I have to look down everytime for the side stand..
I also always check to be sure it is down. I used to kick the side stand down, and then hop of pretty quick. That resulted in a dropped bike a few years ago, so I always double check now.

Yes, I had a bike drop years ago because of not fully extending the side stand. I forever after habitually kick it forward to make sure it is against the stop as the weight goes onto it.

Good man. Hang in there, and enjoy your riding. Like posted earlier, always look down and insure fully extended if you are not positive it is. Glad to hear you are living life to its fullest.

Heel, here, too. I've noticed that it's easier with some boots than others, so if you have multiple boots to try you might swap them around in your garage and see if one feels more "natural" than another. For instance, my Sidi boots have an easier time catching the sidestand than my Alpinestars ones......though the Alpinestars boots are OK if you get used to them. The Sidis have a larger "swell" above the heel of the boot that just naturally catches on the sidestand.

Thanks all. Another ride yesterday and the heel thing is becoming natural.

I am loving this bike.
