Sorry man. I couldn't even imagine going through that. At least your ok. I would be crushed... I would try home or renters insurance and then start checking on costs for tear down and rebuild.

Bring it to a reputable Ducati Performance shop...or dealer. Or take it to the dealer where you bought the bike from. They may give discounts on vehicle rebuilds due to this aftermath. Have them take it apart and rebuild it. Replace whatever parts needs replacing...once done...SELL IT or trade it with another 1199.

It may start giving you problems in the future as these bikes have many computers...

You will incur a big loss though by spending on the repair and rebuild but at least, you get part of your money back...

Sorry to hear that...but at least you and your family are ok...that's the most important.

Nothing's worse than a drowned vehicle, DO NOT spend a dime one trying to rebuild that one, as it will only get you deeper in the hole.
Salvage whatever you can like plastics and fairings etc. and save for a new
one.

I WILL NOT try to fix and sell it. Dont want anyone to buy a bike that was flooded. Bad karma. And i am skydiving for living. So i do not need/cant afford bad karma. Might consider selling as is/part out/make it a living room display

The dealer in Dallas has an engine cut away showing the valve system, pretty cool.

first of all I live in a country where in typhoons like sandy and Ondoy is a regular occurence.(happens at least twice a year) Typhoon Ondoy @ UERM Campus Pt. 1 - YouTube

Now remember, even if the Panigale is a special bike, it is a machine. If the parts are working it will run. During the past typhoones, a lot of Ducati's in my area got drowned for four days. and was repaired to "good as new" condition but the owners spent half of the original value of the bike.

Definitely you must change all the electronic componenets. I do not know hwo much the componenets cost for the Panigale but with the 1198s, it costs 1/5th of the total cost of the bike .

ask the dealer to rebuild your bike, drain all the water, change all the electronics part ( I do not know if the new ohlins needs to be replaced too). re oil the forks and your good to go. Use it for 2 years then decide if you want to sell it or not.

Will it be bad karma? If you keep it a secret from the buyer then yes, but if you fully disclose it then no. Will it be worth it? It would be up to you. Now with the porsche, It can be fixed too.

in your area check if there is an "Acts of God" coverage. if yes get this type of insurance.

Your bike might have been submeredged but the following major parts are undamaged
1. Aluminim cast Frame
2. Swing Arm
3. Engine block
4. Pistons and Valves and Springs
5. Fairing is pretty much complete
6. the exhaust, you may need to replace the silencing material though
8. Brake fluids and oil lines must be bled but pretty much ok
9. The brakes are ok (abs sensors need to go though)

now the goners are the following
1. the beautiful dash
2. all the wirring and connectors
3. Sensors
4. ECU

as you can see your bike can be repaired. if 80mph high sides can be repaired, why can't your bike be repaired.

Used to do a lot of boating there back in the day. Had a Checkmate 259 Convincor. Lots of good memories anchoring at the sand bar on Marie Lake, running the river, Thursday nights at Blarney's Island, 4th of July on Fox Lake and lazy Sunday afternoons in Lake Nipersink.

Hope you had insurance on the other vehicles.. now, go buy that new 1199 R , silver looks better on red anyways.

I hear what you're saying but the engine is probably toast? There's a hole is the case and salt water in the block. All of the bearings are ...... (wheels, steering stem, etc). There's probably salt water in the caliper pistons as well? When all is said and done you'd end up replacing virtually everything on the bike with the exception of the plastics, sub-frame and airbox? IMO, it's just not worth the time, effort or $. Write it off, hope insurance will cover it and get a new one.
