Hi ! Phil here, 26 years old, from France. After reading a lot of interesting posts i finally decided to join your forum, hoping to spend some great time with all of you.

I ordered a '17 Panigale 1299 (possibly S ? still got the choice but don't know yet if i should go for it) and i'll be pleased to share some pictures with you !

Best regards, Phil. :)

Welcome to the forum. Either bike is a good choice. It all comes down to personal preferences. I like the colored display on the S and forged wheels are always an option I'd go for. Ohlins suspension is another big one for me.

Good luck deciding.

Welcome!
Are you sure you gonna get 2017 Panigale 1299? As far as I know there are only 1299 2016 available in stock and 2017 model that will be produced in 2017 would be implemented to new euro 4 regulation and would be little bit modified....

No modifications to 2017 other than updated software. Small volume manufacturers get an extended deadline, i.e. Ducati can continue to sell the Panigale with Euro 3 during 2017.

Thanks ! I never heard about the colored display difference between the base and S ? Can you tell about it ? About the Ohlins my dealership told me that the base would be a better track back as it can be perfectly adjusted, while the Ohlins would be more versatile on a road / track use, would you agree ?

Yes it will be a 2017 Panigale 1299, as mentionned the only differences with the previous 1299 are software updates. The delivery of my bike should be about january.

Thanks everybody for the warm welcome, by the way here's a pic of myself on my ex Ducati 1098. I loved it but kept it only one month (from september to october) because i had a great opportunity on ordering 1299.

Maybe in US but as far as my knowledge reach Europe will be restricted with new Euro 4 emission norms from 1st of January 2017.
Good for you all living in US with still Euro 3 regulation.
Enjoy your bike.

So the base suspension is superior to Ohlins because it can be better adjusted? That sounds stupid. Ohlins is better in all aspects, hence the price difference. Should it disappoint you, you won't have any trouble trading it for the base parts...

No, my post was relating to European law. I live in Europe.

Must have meant aftermarket Ohlins after install.
Anything else would render them clueless

Ok, good for you if you get upgraded Panigale 1299 2017 model in 2017 with Euro 3 emission.
I was told something completely different but...both bikes are awesome anyway

Pardon my ignorance, but the display on the S is different than on the base 1299?

I believe the 1299 doesn't have the colored display that the 1299s does.

^^^^
Disregard , I must've read this wrong somewhere.

I see. So:

Ohlins
Lighter Mags
Race buttons/controls
Colour display

Am I missing anything else?
