Firstly, I did do a search and "HID" is too short a term for the search feature so I couldn't pull up all the old HID threads.

I've resisted up until now but I want more brightness. How is the beam pattern for those that have installed HIDs in the base model assemblies? I like the OEM beam pattern, and upgraded the bulbs to ZXE Silverstar and they did increase output, but still not enough. I want to retain the nice low-beam tightly-defined beam pattern and avoid scatter inherent with non-projector beam HID upgrades.

My 09 R1 with OEM projectors and 55w 6500K upgraded HID were the best headlights I've ever owned on a bike.

Thanks in advance.

I first dd the ZXE's like you then wanted to do hid conversion, i did in my base, however i found that doesn't work so good if you like to hang wheelies alot, the bulb got loose blew and then i had to deal with all that mess afterwards.(kept tripping the fuse didn't know to after return to ducati played dumb) Ripped out kit put back ZXE's im glad for concise light bulb fixture that fits the way they should.

i 1st blew the hid light since it really doesn't sit in the housing that well, and then i blew the fuse that connects power to it. i had to track all the lines to try but when that failed i decided to back to ducati and ask them what the problem was, (after removing te hid kit) so it could get warranty work. come to find out the ground on the fuse box was loose, probably happened when i was looking for fuses on my ride 7 hours away!! so in the long run only replacement OEM bulbs in my 1199, it sucks because i had a great install too.
