Hi folks,

Spend hours searcing in vain.... Any of you know on a pad / cover / ? That is made to increase the tank hight ar the rear for better grip/ anchoring while braking/cornering ?

Like, how do I get a 1098 design tank on my panigale ?

At the moment, I will try some DIY before next weekends race in Assen, but would like a bit more professional product without buying rs/costummade tank

There is a guy in Italy that makes the tanks for the WSB teams.
He's just finished some for the upcoming season.
Maybe you could look into getting one made by him?
I think a WSB tank could be a straight bolt on swap for the stock tank.
He makes to order.

Send me a PM for more details on how to contact him if you're that way inclined.

This is something that I would want oversized, more fuel, carbon. Its for racing/track.

If you are looking for a cheaper fix, just buy some seat foam and gule a couple of layers together. Then fix it to the tank and shape it with a knife/saw/grinder into the shape you want...

Wonder how much performance gain there is to be made from the larger airbox? Never felt the need for a bigger tank though. We never go out on a full tank as it is now. Maybe for endurance racing?

The airbox is really very small on the Panigale no advantage with fuel capacity .

It feels bigger (visually) that the one we had on the firebade. But I'm not sure how it really would be if you meassured it all up... But I guess that the 1199cc engine will swallow up a bit more air than the 1000cc in the Honda, so theoretically it would need to be a bit bigger... Right?

I'm not that experienced with engine tuning, so I was just curious if there was any real performance gains by making the airbox bigger...

It is not made to get more grip/anchoring. This is a solution to get the rider further to the back in order to get less weight on the front and more on the rear. With the normal config. the weight at the front is too high, which results in chatter in mid corner and a lack of grip coming out of the corner on the rear. I have not seen it for sale yet, so I am working now on a GF cover myself. For the moment I just use foam, to get my ass back on the seat. Just like Macke described

The TPL guys have the right idea. They are increasing the airbox size, but moving the fuel load rear and LOWER. You don't want to increase the height of the tank and move that fuel load up higher. Scope out Jarel's thread and look at the tank they started.

What their concept is makes sense.

Thanks for the input, I made a mockup with building foam, and then covered it with 2 layers of carbon fiber. Not pretty, but hight at the rear is increased. To be tested at Assen during the comming weekend. If it works, new tank I think.

Thanks

Take a look at the team Barni bikes tank in this picture. The seat has been shortened and the rear of the tank has a cover to move the rider back
