Honda RC213V-S Spotted Testing in Japan!

I'm guessing they have to choke the living .... out of the exhaust to get it to pass EPA. Notice the peak horsepower is at 8,000 RPM.

Edit: Just read more on the launch. The sports kit that unleashes the full 215hp WILL NOT be available in the USA. I am at a loss for words.

I sincerely hope that's a misprint or there is a spare 215 hp engine and race ecu hidden in the crate. That, or Honda bean counters have lost their g.d. minds!!!

No doubt sub'ed the French road version's numbers by accident. They have HP limits that would put it down at that level. Same as your Panigale would have if you bought it there!

Ooohhhhhh, just saw the specs....... US-spec bikes get 101hp and weight 418 lbs.

Note it says 101 HP at 8000 RPM. So they're really not saying.

Honda has gone crazy right? Do they really think this is even a legitimate thing to sell to people? This is beyond dumb. Their "flagship" sport bike is now what, 7 years old, and this is what they bring to the market.

If you look close, in the Marquez meets RC213V-S video on the launch site there's a brief moment right when he's talking about how it feels like the GP bike in corners when you almost have your elbow down, that the front folds on him and he has to get it collected. Maybe it really IS like the GP bike! ;)

OK, this is bling...

I cant wait to get mine! I will be the envy of all the Ducati Hypermotard owners when we are racing down the highway....until they pass me

With the HP rated @ 8000 rpm and the fact that it's a Honda "race" bike, I would say they're sand bagging on the numbers, redline is probably up around 14000. Hard to believe there would be any kind of market for these at that price.

Redline is above 8k, however if you are in the US then you arent getting the power kit to get the extra horsepowerz and powerbandz.

I see no point in releasing it in the US. 421lbs, 101hp and $186,000. Even if it had 160hp. It missed it's mark. The Desmo did this nearly 10 years ago and $120,000 cheaper.

Checkmate;)

Unfortunately being in the US sometimes sucks, not that I'd be buying a RC213V just like the old E34 M5 BMW came with floating brake rotors in the EU solid in the U.S. Because most Americans do not have the discipline to maintain and check there vehicles, however we do benefit on the lowest priced toys in the world
