How Do I Get This Off?

So here's the situation... On my 2014 Pani, I've got this area on my right side exhaust shield that looks to me like where a warning sticker might've been and got basically burnt onto it. Here's a few pictures of what I'm talking about:

I have tried steel wool, a green brillow pad, and goo gone which didn't have much effect so I got desperate and grabbed the finest grit sandpaper I had laying around and used it as gently as possible which was in fact lifting whatever the hell it is but it is also going to be very obvious that something was there if I continue with this method so I stopped.

My first question is has anyone seen this before and know how to remove it the right way? My solution to the problem would be to pull off both side exhaust shields, have them ceramic coated and then reinstall them but a quick search turned up a few guys saying that it's a PITA to remove and reinstall them (even tho I never actually found a step by step how to on removal). This is what I'm referring to:

Later down the road I intend to get some Termi slip ons and ceramic coat both the slip ons as well as the remaining OEM exhaust piping. But that will be quite a while down the road.

I do like those CF covers but holy mother are they expensive

Simple. Just buy my stock cans, in perfect condition :)

Lol yeah there's that option too that I didn't mention I guess. It would be tough for me to spend money just to get stock cans... Just couldn't do it.

Acetone might work, just don't get it on the paint. I would have thought goof off would do it.

I'll make you a deal :)

Its better than the scarlet letter you have now"¦

Mine had/has the same thing.

You should concentrate on those lousy rearsets first. Running around Skibo Blvd. with those slippery pegs is a recipe for disaster.

Airborne!

I agree, I was completely confident goo gone would take it off. Didn't do a damn thing. I can add Never Dull to the list of stuff I've tried on it, also to no avail.

NOLA:
Haha, I see what's going on here. I'll give ya a crisp $20 bill for em.

JHT:
Yeah rearsets are pretty high on my list as the stockers feel stupid slick but they'll have to wait til after I get this suspension resprung and get some sliders put on. That blob of .... on the can is just a huge eyesore on such a beautiful bike tho so I gotta figure out how to get those shields off and to a ceramic coater since it seems that there's no way of getting it off. Whatever the hell it is is probably baked on the damn thing by now.

Btw, I avoid Skibo at ALL costs, that road is a frickin death wish now. Hell I don't even go to Fayettenam if I can help it, Aberdeen has much of the same stuff and a much lower crime/death rate.

All The Way!

Feel your pain, when I still had the stock cans, some idiot tire kicker put his black sneaker tip on one which resulted in melted rubber on my right can. Never got it off and the more rubbing, scratching and sanding I did only made matters worse. Try to claim it as a warranty issue!

That really blows, I'd be quite mad to say the least. I'll give it a shot and see if they'll warranty it, my dealer seems to work with me pretty well so far. Not getting my hopes up tho.
