How do you fold the mirrors?

Sorry for the really noobie question but I can't find anything in the manual about it and I don't want to end up smashing something.:eek:

Did a search and found some references to folding, but nothing about how to do it. Do you lift the stem and rotate?
 
Just grab at the base , and push them forward , or pull them back. Like a lot of the guys on the Hayabusa forums , they go both ways !

I am worried about forcing something that is 't supposed to move. It would be great to see a photo of them in the folded position.

thats really disappointing actually.. getting my base this few days, initially wanted the windscreen until i heard abt this problem =( maybe i will wait for aftermarket parts like zerogravity or something
 
I haven't folded mine for more than just a moment to see how they fold. Like many car mirrors. But why do I want to leave them folded?

Lanesplitting here in CA--esp. over bridges--leaves very little room. I love that the mirrors fold in in a second and can be popped out without having to readjust.
