Really want to add a hyper to my garage but I’m torn between the two- SP vs non SP model.

The SP is sick and has all the bells and whistles but I can grab a non SP for $5k cheaper.

Only concern for me is the height of the SP which can be reduced with a new seat.

Anyone else go through the same scenario, what bike did you end up with?

***currently have a V2 in the garage.

I’m reaching that point. I don’t always want to be hunched over on the race bike all the time. I could do long trips on a hyper or a multi

I sat on both over a year ago and they were way too high.
Might just have to do it and get used to dealing with the height cause I definitely don’t think I’m cut out for a slow and furious Harley

Exactly, I’d like to change it up too. I’d love to ride the V2 for +2hrs but my ass and thighs are toast. First world problems though right?

Would you go SP or standard and trick it out?

I can grab the standard for $12k OTD vs. $17k OTD for the SP.

It’s tough to justify the extra $$$ over the base model cause then you could be adding another Panigale to the garage cause those are worth the $$ cause of the way they look

Why not the new multi v4 with 38k miles valve service and the big comfy wind protection? Cause the hyper looks better? I think the better bike for me will be the V4 Multistrata, could go camping with that bike

I’ll probably end up with a Street Glide

You would : )

Multi V4 is sick

*the hyper950 is cool too. I am big fan of that 11° motor. Huge torque down low. Too bad it’s all smogged out only 110 hp. Wonder what all can be done with the electronics to change that?

Yeah that’s the hard part, justifying the sticker price for the SP.

Ive considered other models but I just prefer the Hyper.

I am looking to sell my 2019 Hyper 950 SP. The bike has 200 miles on it. Selling because I am looking to purchase a BMW M2 Comp.

Damn still like new but not even past the first service. Why haven’t you rode it at all, it’s going on 2 years old.

I bought it march of 2020 so I have had it for about 11 months. I have three other bikes and it's hard to ride them all. Now I am looking at a M2 Comp.

I'm late to the party, but I went with the standard Hypermotard, for a few reasons. First, it isn't a "Base model." It still has all of the goodies you'd want. It still has fully adjustable Marzocchi forks, which to me are better on the street than the Ohlins. If you plan on tracking the bike a lot, the Ohlins are a step up. But it isn't like we are comparing a Monster 796 to a Monster 1200s. The forged wheels to me are cool, but not necessary for me. The bike still has super nice lightweight wheels that look great, especially with the single sided swingarm. The Ducati Quick Shifter, just add it on, it is plug and play. Carbon fiber front fender and engine cover, yawn. Waste of money. It isn't a structural part, just more expensive to replace if damaged vs plastic. The SP has a taller seat height, which even at 6'2" I am not a fan of.

So the major differences are (Standard vs SP):
Marzocchi adjustable forks vs Ohlins adjustable (Marzocchis are better on the street, Ohlins are better on the track)
Standard wheels vs Marchesini Forged wheels (Definitely a cool to have, vs nice to have, vs must have)
34.2" seat height vs 35" seat height (34" is already tall)
No quick shifter vs DQS (Plug an play add on)

I'll let readers figure it out themselves.

For me the differences were just not compelling enough to spend the extra money. It is annoying when people call it the base model...

What is the case for saying Marz suspension is better than Ohlins for the street?

Ohlins can be adjusted to suit the riding style and are a higher quality and performing unit.

Marz will be fine, agreed, but Ohlins are rarely wasted money.

I love Ohlins, my car has them. :)
