In 30 years time if the SL becomes a collectors item. Then the bike that has been left absolutely stock as a rock and unrestored will be the most valuable and the most sought after.

You see this now with all the old Ducati classic bevels from the 1970's.

If I had an SL, I would not be doing this to it. I think its ugly. Like others have said you could get the same effect out of a base model.

Well, thats the whole point of motorcycles. Sorry you missed it.. Back to school!

Umm, what?

So the whole point of motorcycles is to buy one that is specifically designed for one thing, then totally change it to make it somewhat better at a complete opposite thing, while also spending $20k on a piece of equipment that is meant to make it better at its originally intended thing (the one you took it away from)...instead of spending $800 to change a part that would make it better at the thing you changed it to be better at?

When you could have spent less than 1/2 of the money to get a bike that was originally designed for the thing you tried to make this one do? Or if nothing else, you could have spend 1/2 the money on a lesser model Superbike and then converted it and made more profit?

If that is the whole purpose of motorcycles, then you are right...I missed it.

i guess purpose boils down to personal taste... and arguing about that - you know that will go down the drain...

purpose of a rigid frame chopper with a 350 rear?

IMHO - that SL fighter is an absolute blast to ride. like freaking out of this world type of ride.

the ergos of the xx99 are already good for a sportbike, but a little more upright and easier control input? heck yeah! you wouldn't catch that bike with a regular SL in the twisties.

on the track (what it was originally designed for? well, yeah, fast sweepers and long straights, where wind protection is needed. but flicking it through esses or backing it into a 90 degree turn? i bet it's easier on the fighter...

Phl, So much hate from others right?! j/k

It does hurt in that it is a limited numbered bike. Only 500 right?

But I think if I was rich, I would buy 3, keep one in a perfect condition for collection, one for track and this one for riding around every day.

That would be my dream.

I love the SL.

But my dream has nothing to do with motorcycles

more along the lines of me, a hot spa and 3 naked supermodels :)
