The main reason I could part with the 1098S and then the 1198S, both wonderful bikes, is that I'm holding onto a 916 that I've had for quite awhile now. Bottom line is I'm really overjoyed with the 1199, a very different Ducati and for me, their all round best to date.
I still have my 1098, but i have not ridden it since i got the 1199. The 1098 is all polished up and on a trickle charger. I have been asked why i don't sell it, it was my first Ducati, it would be like taking one of my kids and putting them up for adoption... Not gonna happen. Eventually the 1199 will be replaced (with whatever comes next) and when that happens the 1199 will join the 1098 on the trickle charger / garage art
Trauma: Donelson Cycle in St. Louis has a brand new 1098 R for sale on the showroom floor - I was checking it out yesterday.
Just sayin... it's there if you want it badly enough.
I've owned both. I don't miss my 1198S. It was a great bike and if I had the money to keep both bikes I would have. I would like to at some point in my life buy a 1098R. The 1198S was fun but I really enjoy my Panigale.
