I took the fairings off my bike

So, I took the fairings off my bike earlier today. It was more out of boredom than necessity. I must say I like how easy and straightforward it was. On another bike I had the fairings were held on with mostly plastic rivets that would always break.

I was pleased to find nothing leaking or loose hardware. Then, I started looking at this black box behind the lower radiator. When I realized it was the fan shroud with the fan obviously inside, I started to laugh. For a big motor that puts out a lot of power, it has a tiny fan. Space is a premium, but wow! Anyway, with all the cooling issues in the warmer months this just struck me as funny.

If your doing more than 10 miles an hour the fan is useless anyway. Get an sbk style cooling system and that should drop the temps significantly. Otherwise, learn to live with it.

I just changed my coolant yesterday with 1:20 mix of Motul Mocool and distilled water, as I'm going racing end of this month and glycol coolant is not allowed.
Planning to commute on it too at some point. Will let you know how to goes.
Stupid friggin cooling system....so hard to change coolant without taking the head fairing off. How in the world does Ducati expect to win races with such user unfriendly design....

Thamer, what is a superbike cooling system?

Or just get the lower oil cooler

What's so difficult about it? Once you have the side fairings, key guard, inside trim and mirrors off, it's only a 5-10 min process. Remove the bolts on the inside near the headlight, underneath, and then pop the center mount between the fairing and headlight.

I just received my SBK 2 kit from MAC and I may not be able to install it. Waiting to here back from WERA, but changing the ....... radiator may make my bike illegal for Superstock. I'm leading the pts in that class and I want to win it. Any installation note that you would like to share in case I can install it?

I haven't received mine yet. Probably at the end of this month. That is the first I've heard about that mod making it illegal to race, but i am going to be racing under FIM rules so maybe thats why it never came up. I will have to check now. I thought you had this problem before?.....or someone here posted about adding an oil cooler and having it void them from racing in a certain class.

I have to scroll through the threads now.

looks great, but also looks hideously expensive... How much?

I can't remember what I paid for it, but i sold it never installing it and opting for the SBK2 setup.

I didn't pay retail for this one either, but thats cause I knew the guy making them when he was just starting out, and did a little advertising for him. I can tell you that your should be able to find his stuff online. Way cheaper than any other similar system out there. Top quality!!

Would febur's FE1331 add-on water cooler still be legal for superstock Leon? It's supposedly what it was designed for. Not super expensive either.

Yikes!!

Ummmmh, I have to disagree with it being easy and straightforward. Too many screws, considering how many (fragile) plastic tongues and clips.

As one of the first shipped, my 1199 landed before dealer workshop training, so this is what happened when they tried to figure out how

I'm still waiting to an e-mail back. The field here is pretty thin on riders, of course I say that and ill be sitting on the same grid with Alex Cudin, Nina Prinz, Not to mention a bunch of growing local talent.....lol. Because of this I don't think they'll say anything about my cooling system. I cold be wrong.
