It is possible. Imagine a nice sunny day in january after some really bad weather days. The temperature of the air is 2° but the road can still be under zero. So ice can still be on the road.

It's not just ice. The tire and the road are so cold that its very easy to slide. Even w/ tc

Truth, sometimes I forget after parking it for awhile (cold tires). Tires are like Lego blocks and I get a nice little dose of reality when I try to accelerate quickly.

had some fun fun in the cold tho, it was 0 degrees once I got going. Haven't got a charger yet so i'm riding to keep the battery energised, hadn't started for 6 weeks and started fine. Defo have to be aware that there could still be ice as road temp is lower than the air temp. Rode for an hour until I got bloody cold, loving the bike and can't wait for summer!

My ICE warning comes on at about anything under 40F (4.4C), about the same as my car. Not only warning of cold road, but I know it can also snow at that temp. I've been riding all winter, this warning is on every morning. Today was 21F (-6C), and ok, that was pretty f'ing cold. VERY gently putted my way to work. But will be worth it for the warm afternoon. (Denver weather has some wide daily temp swings)

First time I got the ICE warning light this morning, here in sunny California!

What the heck, mine doesn't say anything about ice. It just pops up a picture of Robert Matthew Van Winkle....

:D

Does the warning come up because of cold temps + detection of wheel slip?

I ask because I was out yesterday morning (39 degrees) and noticed a very little amount of slip when I made a right turn with little bit of throttle. After about 200 yards on a straight away, the "Ice" warning came on. I suspect the ECU was detecting more instances of minor slippage even though I wasn't.

It is my understanding this is PURELY temperature, slippage or not. Comes on right at 39 degrees, so the delay was probably just guage cooling down. Just a little warning ice could be present. My RSV4 did the same thing.

You see "from you." We all see "Duchess" on the thanks line.
