I'll be slumming it this weekend...

I dont think a frozen rock is going to dilute anything :) Nevertheless, I prefer one ice cube. To each their own.

Each to their own indeed. It just seems odd to me to dilute the taste. A fine malt should be drunk neat almost like an after dinner brandy. Water in a blend like Famous Grouse etc, no problem. At least that is how I was brought up.

I agree, but to each their own. I believe you should drink it how you like.

I have to admit I've tried Islay scotches from Port Ellen and Laphroaig and needed a cube or two! Not my favorites...

If it had been a $25 bottle, it probably would not have been posted ;)

There is a UGE gap between 25 and 800; I usually go for the 12 YO Jameson's myself. I know it's not scotch but I like it and put ten ice cubes in a foam cup and drink the .... out of it!:D

I agree! Very lucky yes, but I am not a Scotch conisuer and even I know it's several hundred dollars a bottle! I have friends in high places lol!

You can get a decent bottle of Scotch for under 100 dollars. Maybe marcbc can chime in a recommend one and we can all buy some and raise our glasses together when the AR Inconel Install thread finally dies!

I posted because I knew it was a really good scotch. Just thought I'd share my good fortune...

I know that she didn't pay that much through connections at work.

It's usually vodka, wine or beer for me... But I love to have a taste of scotch from time to time. Between Christmas and Birthdays I have 3 bottles. This one, JW Blue and a Macallan 18. There are lots of good scotches and you don't have to spend a lot of money. They rate them like wine too so you can get an idea. You can just search and spend 5 minutes getting an isea about the 3 main regions and the differences in distilling and taste. The best way to do it is just start trying some out...

The Macallen is a great malt, 12 and 18 used to be my preferred tipple. The Speyside Malts are much less peaty whiskey compared to the Islay malts ( such as Laphroaig). There are so many to choose from, however. From memory JW Blue and JW Black are blends, not single malts.

And yes, of course you should drink them as you wish. My comments may be correctly traditional but I say them lightheartedly. I actually could not give a hoot how others have their drinks.

Good on you Bronch for being given a bottle, a lucky man.

It's a good single-malt scotch. Not sure what 27 has to do with it, I've been drinking scotch since my 20s. I guess you think it's your Dad's drink or something

Never been a scotch guy, probably because my dad doesn't drink. I don't know anything about scotch, I'm a beer guy.

I am going to my first "Scotch and bourbon night" with the guys this weekend. I've been asked to bring Booker's Bourbon.
