This might be a good mod if you are running out of warranty, just so it doesn't happen down the road unexpectedly.
i hear you man and agree... trust me. some of these things I've chose to deal w/ myself after speaking with some of these dealers who know little to nothing about this bike other then it's name... if that.
I only have the Termi-slips but I covered my lower fairings in Thermo-Tec heat matting (Thermo-Tec 13575 12" X 24" Adhesive Backed Heat Barrier). Works pretty well.I was poking around for some of this tape and a bunch of the reviews on Amazon say a lot of the products don't stick well. Anybody had good luck with a specific one?
I was looking at these:
HeatShield 340001 Thermaflect Tape 1-1/2" Wide x 3' Heat Shield tape : Amazon.com : Automotive
Thermo-Tec 14002 1 1/2" X 15' Thermo-Shield Roll : Amazon.com : Automotive
Thermo-Tec 13500 12" X 12" Adhesive Backed Heat Barrier : Amazon.com : Automotive
Thanks to all who responded, I definetly read some interesting solutions that I will try in the interim. I am personally of the opinion and have always believed that you get what you pay for, and in this case I paid for the best, and my expectations are commensurate.
With any first year production product you can expect some issues however , I don't find work arounds to be acceptable. The company has a responsibility to ensure people are getting what they pay for, and so far the warranty process has worked brilliantly for me. But, I will not modify or lower my expectations based on factory shortcomings.
From an Aerospace engineers perspective,(Mali) design flaws and technical missteps cost lives, I don't tolerate or expect them in any way shape form or fashion. When they happen, and they always do, we fix them as Ducati should.
I think we should all take the same position.
