Internal packing on Termi slip-ons

OK, so I tore apart my Termi slip-ons to ceramic coat them, I am curious if anyone else has pulled these apart as well??

I am curious if the packing material in the ends of the cans is needed or if you can do away with the stuff??

I have done away with all the packing, but Alain of Dynojet says the packing is important for the correct back pressure so I will probably get myself a service kit and repack the Termis.

Claymore, are you referring to the wrapped packing or the packing in the ends of the cans? I have packing for the wrapped portion and I plan on using that, I saved the fiberglass crap from the end caps.. I am not sure if I need to use that stuff though..?
