Thought about doing this on both sides of the bike, any issues if it rains or when I wash the bike?

Rear cylinder you meant?
No no problems with when I have done it, I've left them on this new bike just because I don't mind the clean look of all black and sort of matches the GBRacing engine covers.

The 2012 model 1199 are like this, having them on helps with the heat.

Also it's a c*nt to remove have to take the sub frame off

No problem to leave rear cylinder head uncovered and it does not have much impact (if any) to the heat you can feel.

I removed mine and actually found that the bike ran cooler and felt less heat around the seating area. I believe this can be attributed to the open area for heat to dissipate faster; rather than build up and rise to the rider's seat. Maybe it's just me, but this was one of the best mods I have done to the bike. Plus, the exposed cylinder heads are beautiful compared to the black plastic covers.

What is the red plate on the right side pic? I took the covers off my 1299 and there are a couple of long bolts sticking out there. I'd like to have a set up like the picture above.

Same experience for me. Ducati brought these in response to heat complaints but they actually trap the heat, much better without them.

anything in particular to remove these covers.. i removed the two screws on both sides but something is still holding the covers on place.

already did that , varying stories on how to do it. But never mind its all good.

well. if you are not sure then just get to work.

As you are taking it apart, it is pretty easy to see what you need to do.

All done... love the look. felt no major difference in heat.
