Hello everyone from Charlotte, NC..
I am the proud owner of this 2012 1199 ABS with 912 miles on it.
I bought this amazing piece of art in motion from Orlando FL and had it shipped to my doorstep.
As the trailer pulled down my street I noticed it only had one mirror attached as the other was covered in a sock. The driver got out of the truck and said that he will pay for a new mirror and a windshield due to the mirror barely scratched it in transport. Needless to say I wasn't a happy new Duc owner at first.
After he agreed to order the new parts I disconnected the mirror attached my plate and took off for the maiden voyage.
All I can say is....WOW!!! Holy crap this is one bad ass machine.
I've always dreamt of having a Ducati... I've owned countless GSXR's and a ZX9r since new and still have it. I almost bought a Diavel until I started doing my R&D
On a few sites. I wanted the 1199 but didn't want to pay 20k for a motorcycle as I never thought I could justify the overly expensive price tag. I mean, who would have thought that a Ducati is that much more machine then a Jap bike.
I'm here to tell everyone that today the reality of it is soooooo much better then the dream.
I've rode about 60 miles so far and have lived every second. I stopped at my brothers house and let him take it for a ride. When he came back I patiently waited inside just so I could see the look on his face because I've been trying to get him to ride again and his expression and smile was more then I ever thought I would've got from him. His exact words were... "That thing is a BEAST... I can't believe it. It's really comfortable too"
Before it got shipped it had the ECU map plus all the updates done and I am so very pleased with my 1199ABS purchase.
Ducati all the way!!!
I want to thank all of you who have put in your two cents, given the good with the bad, and most of all, helped me make my decision on this purchase..
So here are a few pics... It's not like you haven't seen a 1199 before but, this is mine...if anyone else would like to go riding that lives around here please let me know.
