It never ends with this bike

My dash fogged, but only after leaving it parked in foggy SF for 7 days. After a nice warm ride it cleared right up. My guess is that the dash is meant to breathe a little for whatever reason and if it sits--or changes temps too rapidly--it fogs. I drove it through some ...... storms since then--and left it out in the rain for a good 7 days, all I've seen since then is a small speck of fog that evaporates after 20-30 minutes. If you store your bike for extended periods, place a sock full of rice near the dash to suck condensation out of the air.

If/when it does fog up, just keep in mind it's a built-in reminder you're not riding it enough. :)

Mark, you guys just had a cold front hit right?

My dash went from nothing below 80F in Florida to 40F while in the NC. Immediately it fogged. I left in the sun, and quickly it went away.

They can replace the dash, but it will just happen again. Ducati is working on a fix.

Hmmm, That dash can predict the weather better than those birds on television!

Thanks, Lance. What we see here is a design flaw front moving in from the East. Until this passes and a new model comes out it looks like we'll see partly cloudy with lots of visits to the dealership with this bike. Back to you, Lance.

I feel you pain - my bike went in today to have melted fairing and melted hugger replaced under warranty, as soon as i picked it up I noticed the fogging in the dash which has never happened before. Looks like it was due to bike being parked in the sun after the rain. They have offered to replace if it doesnt go away on it's own but annoying as i really dont want the oddometer reset

-- i wouldnt worry....it does tend to go away quickly - also, i think there is a newer update that saves the milage...however, that might only be on newer models...not sure...ask your dealer

mark, in your place, i would start working on my karma.

that ROSSI hatin' is messing your ducati up. he's italian, the bike's italian, get it?

Question. I assume they are installing whichever recall had the spacer thing to fix the melting fairing (I have this issue too and am taking mine in soon to have it, TSB881, etc. done), but what did they tell you about the hugger? Simply replacing huggers until the warranty is up might be Ducati's plan since that is probably cheaper than actually trying to fix the problem and issue yet another heat related recall/optional recall. Also, do you have the new heatshields? I had a theory that the hugger melting was only happening on the new heatshields since it traps more heat in that area than the old heatshields and was interested in another data point.

Thanks

Question regarding replaced dashes and reset mileage: If you run the VIN of the bike at a dealership, will you be able to see if the dash was replaced? If so, will it also track what mileage it was replaced at?

Not to assume that any 1199 owner wouldn't specify the exact mileage and divulge all the warranty/recalls performed on the bike, but if I go shopping for a used 1199 as a track bike I would just like to be sure exactly what I'm buying...
